We don't need shot stick on ALL THE TIME!!!

Ok guys,I just thought of this recently and I can't get it off my mind. I want to first say this:it isn't that the current system doesn't function properly,or that it isn't useable. The thing is,it's simple, as a basketball player and a gamer I feel like I need more control over my dribbling. There are sooo many custom dribbling animations for most every situation, but I nvr use most of them simply bcuz they're too difficult to pull off on a consistant basis. It's the se as the post game was last yr. Everyone is limited to using the same moves over and over again just bcuz they can't figure out how to use the dribble moves.

I know there are some who have this whole thing mastered with the shot stick just fine. However, I know I'm with the majority when I say that Im NOT ONE OF THEM! So please consider my idea for 2k11 and beyond...

Right now,if u pull up the default control layout u will see that the left trigger/L2 is the "clutch" for isomotion. I want this to become the clutch for activating the shot stick. In all other situations, the right stick is used for dribbling. That's it, sounds simple enough right?

My thing is, I'm running into too many instances where more control over my dribbling would help, ALOT. Like bringing the ball up the court facing full court pressure, or navigating tight drives in the half court. There's a bunch I can't think of right now too. We simply do not need the option to shoot when we're on the opposite side of our basket trying to bring the ball up with these limited dribbling controls.
This will help with the accidental full court heaves and other accidents that happen when we accidently flick the stick.

Other ideas for controls include tapping the clutch for pump fakes instead of trying to half-flick the stick, which also doesn't always go the way u want, especially in tense, close game situations.

I feel like 2k does such a great job, and goes to great lengths to provide us gamers, and lovers of the game alike with an abundance of great looking animations, both in amount, and in variety. They continue to add more every year. I feel like the current control scheme is not pick up and playable, and as I mentioned before, alot of these animations go unused simply because they're too difficult to pull off consitantly, or in the right situations when u want them to be executed. So this idea just allows for more accessibility and allows us to take full advantage of what's offered animation wise.

I'm not saying do away with crossovers on the left stick altogether, just make it so the primary moves are executed with the right stick.

This is truly the best of both worlds, as this has been a gripe I've had about 2k ever since 2k5 when the shot stick was introduced, and isomotion was moved to the left stick. I just haven't ever had a solution for it. Now I do, and I'm excited to see if u guys are with me on this, so we can make a push to get this into the game. If not the default, then at the very least a selectable option.

Ok, enough of me, let's see what u guys think...

There's an option in 2k10 for you to take the isomotion and put it on the right stick, and use the left trigger to activate shot stick. Did you look first or just post?

If my system were on, I'd show you, but it's like the second or third option in controller configuration.

personally, I'll always be a button shot guy. Problem is, it seems like you have to use shot stick this year to time your jump shot properly, which I think is a crock. Mainly b/c shot stick doesnt always react right when you use it.

Changing the control scheme to put dribbling on the right stick doesn't work as smoothly as you would think. Trust me.

Re: We don't need shot stick on ALL THE TIME!!!

what I mean is a full on attempt at it,not just a haphazard try like the one in the game now. They need to focus on trying to make this adjustment more responsive and useable. The isomotion option currently in place if u wish to use the right stick is so unresponsive that it's not even worth using. As soon as I turned it on I turned it right back off lol...so yes I know, I'm asking for a tighter, more responsive feel to the current system. Let me clear this up, no current control layout is responsive enough for me, and although this option may already be in the game, I feel they should focus their efforts on this as the default option, this would make it pickup and playable, instead of me having to spend so much time in practice
modes trying to learn how to pull off certain moves, only to not be able to pull them off when I want, or in the appropriate situations.

Re: We don't need shot stick on ALL THE TIME!!!

it's not so much a change in the control scheme, only thing I'm sayin is to use the clutch for isomotion as the clutch for shot stick, not to remove shot stick, just to make it toggleable.

this would be a great addition just because of the number of animations at 2k's disposal, that they add to each yr btw, IMO if they focused on this then they could make it the most controllable/responsive control layout in all sports games.

also, I don't think that the rest of the controls stay the same when u switch to the right stick dribbling layout. I want everything the same cept isomotion clutch used to activate the shot stick. I'm almost 100% positive this control scheme is not available. Right now I have the dribbling on the buttons and it's just workable enough to keep me playing, since I love this game so much and it does so many things well, that as a bball fan, player, and gamer I can truly appreciate. That's y this all came to mind, how can we improve? This is how...
