I read this post in the scripted thread an man did a make a difference. A lot of the BS that happens is due to us not adjusting the double team settings.

I tried this against the 76ers and it worked perfectly I set doubles for Brand and Igoudala. I put no doubles at all for Dalembert and left auto for Young and Holiday/Williams.

What it did was force these guys to play faster then normal Igoudala couldn't get up to many shots because of the doubles. If we couldn't get a full on double my guys would throw a fake double.

This forced him to take bad shots and defer to his teammates. Same thing happened to Brand but worse because he couldn't nothing going all night.

So Dalembert had to step up his game and you know that turned out badly. Young and Holiday got some open jumpers but they were ones I could live with.

Overall what this did was make me feel control on D. Before I started doing this I felt not control and the people who score felt too random. Now I knew who I was going to allow to score and who I wasn't.

In the end Igoudala ended up scoring 13 and Brand even lower than that. It felt good to see that happen. So I'm encouraging you guys to experiment w/ this because it can do wonders on D.

Agree. Just would have been good if you could set it per player instead of per position so you don't have backups receiving the doubles.

Defense is deeper in this game than it's given credit for. I've gotten steadily better. If you go into a game expecting to shut someone down, then you can be going at it the wrong way. It's satisfying to pressure players out of their DNA comfort zones and watch them struggle. This is a game that makes defense rewarding when you aren't forcing turnovers and all I can say to the Live team is: Well done!

Yeah this is what I was hoping they would put in Live 10. Similar to 2k where you can adjust your defensive settings for each individual player so you don't have to keep changing them when they sub different players in and etc.

As of now every dead ball if you hear the sub sound, immediately go to your matchups and adjust accordingly.

Re: Double team logic is great in this game!!!

What I have learned through my frustrations on losing games on All-Star level was that double teams implemented the right way may be what gets us users over the hump. For instance, I beat Miami with Orlando tonight 114-108. For the entire game, I brought double teams to Dwayne Wade and Michael Beasley whenever they got the ball. Wade had 27 and Beasley had 25 but the double teams forced much needed turnovers which would break Miami's momentum on a number of occasions and also help me create mine. Also I noticed that when you effectively double team, it causes the other A.I. players to react differently in terms of helping out their teammate who is being double teamed. As a result, I was in better position than the CPU to get rebounds I normally wouldn't have gotten.

The key to good defense is not only staying in front of your man but knowing what to do with the options they give you. Use your double teams, select tight or loose defense on certain players, think about your defensive matchups, don't be afraid to change your defensive set when one isn't working and call timeouts when needed. Believe me, it all helps and as a result, makes Live playable and winnable on All-Star level without any changes but to fatigue and foul slider settings.

The double teams just feel right in general in Live 10. One thing that always urked me about 2k was that the player would hit the guy you were helping from every single time, whether the pass was impossible or not. It just seemed like as soon as you got a certain distance away from the ball handler that they would warp the ball to whoever was open without looking. From what i've seen on Live, players actually seem as if they need to make eye contact or even just look up to see who is open, as opposed to knowing already. I often saw D-Wade dribble out of it and go to the rack or even just dribble out to get the pass off. In 2k, he would have thrown a pass most nfl qb's couldn't make while under heavy pressure and falling out of bounds.

I do wish we had the option to double team in the paint though, i know you can do it manually but a setting for it would make life a lot easier on defense
