How the hell do you defend against this?

First off, i just played an online game and the other guy chose Phoenix, i was Miami. He played so damn cheap, just abusing two major exploits that i need help defending against.

1 - Just dribbling back and forth with one player, mostly Nash and Amare out by the 3 point line. He would constantly be pushing the stick up and down, changing directions at abnormal human speed. The defender is already at a disadvantage, this makes it impossible to play defense.

2 - How do you stop the fade-a-way off-balanced 3? He hit about 8 3's with Nash by doing it, it's impossible to stop. Again, defense is already at a disadvantage. How do you stop it?

If any developers look at this, please address these issues and give the defense a chance. Games tend to be a matter of scoring, which isn't the case in real life

Re: How the hell do you defend against this?

Two things:

Number 1 - The fadeaway 3 from well beyond the arc is a known cheat/glitch/expoit (doesn't really matter what you call it, its BS), and I'm assuming it's going to be patched in the Nov patch coming out.

Number 2 - I don't even bother playing online. It's rife with idiot cheesers like that guy. If they weren't cheesing you on that, they'd find something else. I swear that if there was a button combination they could press that ended the game and said, "YOU WIN" they would do it. It's ridiculously stupid.

Re: How the hell do you defend against this?

I run with the Bobcats right now. What I've been doing is setting automatic double teams and using high pressure. With double team and high pressure Nash, Mo, Deron, none of those guys can hit nearly as consistently.

I'm usually picking one defender to use the whole possession. Against the Suns I'll use my SF Gerald Wallace the whole possession to cover the passing angles to the open man the double team causes.

My biggest complaint about online play right now is the pace of action seems way too fast. You can advance the ball from inbounds to half-court too easily making the court seem extremely small.

Overall I like playing online, but I don't see how the devs could be happy with how the game feels with respect to pace and player movement. There's too much sliding and herky jerkiness.

The fadeaway/step back 3's is a glitch. Nothing you can do about it but try to block them.

The moving up and down all over the court stuff, they need to make them either loose the ball more often (a la superstar level) or give the user more defensive options along with making the defensive AI better.

It is a glitch, but what you say is not true. If you set an automatic double team with high pressure it effects the shot greatly.

I disagree. And I thought I saw something on here a while back that said those options (D matchups, pressure) didn't work. I know for a fact when I try to change up my matchups, they don't work and I'm playing man D. I can take my best defender and put it on his best scorer and the man will never switch over. Tight pressure? I don't see any bit of difference when I change it to "tight" compared to "auto" or "low". Online is a mess and needs to be fixed with that November patch.

Re: How the hell do you defend against this?

I know for a fact the automatic double team works and that's what I'm referring to. I believe the tight pressure does also. However I cannot confirm that.

I know for a fact the automatic double team works against the step back 3 because I've been trying all kinds of different things against it. I'm doing the auto double team and playing offball letting 2 computer controlled players double nelson, mo williams, granger, nash, etc...

It's not going to stop it all the time, but enough to the point where my opponent has to pass out of the double and look for the open man and take a regular shot sometimes.

From my experience changing defensive matchups does not work online. I'm not sure about offline. It hurts online because people will put guys like Shawn Marion at point and run him straight to the middle of the court off inbounds. I hope they are looking into getting that fixed.

Wait for the patch... in this tread (http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ated-3s-3.html), a developer said it would be fixed.
