New Ratings affect Trading in Association Mode-

With the revamped player ratings, trading for star players is nearly impossible now.

I always play as the Bulls and my favorite player is Melo so I always try to trade for him. Usually I involve a third team such as Suns (give the Nuggets Amare) or Raptors (give Nuggets Bosh) and work out a trade that way. But NOTHING works lol. And I am giving each team a LOT too.

Everyone but Rose I've tried trading, along with my two first rounders I ALWAYS try to overpay anyways to avoid the guilt of ripping off the computer but nothing works lol. Anyone play as the Bulls manage to trade for Melo WITHOUT forcing the trade?

I'm not sure if this is a good thing, or a bad thing.

On the other side of things, if you don't want a crazy association, I would highly recommend turning off CPU trades. The new rating system means that LOTS of big time players will get traded because of their lowered ratings. Too much for my taste, but that's just me.

Is there any chance the Nuggets would trade Melo in real life? No!

I think the Association's trading logic is good. The only trades that seem a little silly is when the CPU proposes trades to me, but this may happen because they need to fill some different position in their roster.

I know that Nuggets trading Melo isn't the most realistic scenario, but that's just how I play my association. Trust me, I'm not one of those crazy guys that load up their roster with studs. Melo is just my favorite player, plain and simple.

I do appreciate the new trade logic as I can't just make any trade I want. But at the same time, it really sucks that I can't get my Melo lol. I've tried some really good deals IMO too. Something along the lines of:

Granger, Troy Murphy, Salmons to Nuggets
Melo and throw in players to the Bulls
Hinrich and Deng to the Pacers

I believe both teams get one of my first rounders too.

I mean come on, that's not that bad of an offer. The ones with Bosh, Amare, and Boozer were good ones too. I just want to build around Rose and Melo, and I hope to keep Tyrus and Noah, but I'd trade them away in a second if I have to.

Melo always decline his option/see his worth in free agency. I would try to prepare you salary for when his contract expires. He never ask for an extension. Thats your best bet, just clear some cap space.

The trade you describe seems almost fair, but still not enough.
You're trying to get one of the top players with great upside so it's not going to happen. Also, I don't see the Pacers accepting this either.
I think your best chance is to try and sign a big name as free agent in the offseason and see where you can go from there. Or get really lucky in the draft so you have more trade stuff. Or just force the trade you mention and be done with it.

I don't have this game yet, but I hope that free agency isn't the only way All Star players move. All Star movement should be rare, but so should their movement via free agency. It virtually never happens in the real NBA. If All Star players move, they move via re-signing with their original club and being traded, not by outright signing to other teams in UFA.

Free agency isn't for NBA superstars. It's for role players and the occasional solid starter (like Ben Gordon or Charlie V signing with Detroit this year; both fine players, but nobody confuses them with being All Star calibur players).

Even if the Nuggets would trade Melo for Granger, why would the Pacers want to trade Granger and Murphy for Hinrich and Deng? I would have no problem with that trade not going through. If you really want Melo, just trade override it cause there aren't many realistic scenarios where the Bulls could get Melo with a non-Rose package.
