Madden 10 Passing Game needs fixed...

Just thought there should be more discussions on the passing issues in Madden 10 so I took a post of mine from a different thread to get it started. Let me know if you feel the same way or any other issues you are having.

I am a Seahawk fan and the way they have Hasselbeck throwing motion is horrible! he has to have the slowest release in Madden 10 yet in real life he has a quicker release than most.

Whats funny is if you try and experiment with different QB's you will be dumbfounded if you have any real knowledge of the NFL and it players.

The quickest release I have seen in Madden 10 is Matt Shaub's. In real life he no quicker than Hasselbeck but in this game out of all the QB's I have tried his release is instantaneous LOL.

The best deep ball QB is Matt Ryan. When I practiced with Matt Ryan every single pass was picture perfect on bombs and any other pass also.

The other issue I have on the passing is there really is no medium trajectory. It is either really high or low. It is almost impossible to just lob a pass over a LB sitting in a zone without him picking it off.

Throwing a Bullet pass should not take forever for a ball to get there either. Has the Madden team ever heard of a QB sticking right between 2 defenders on a laser? In Madden 10 if you throw a bullet pass to an area of a zone it seems like it is just floating in the air instead of looking like a ball on a mission.

If they want to point to there passing game as being a staple of Madden 10 than they need to get these things right!

So far, I like the new ratings. I use Nate Davis (49ers) because he has a strong arm. Every once in a while he'll overthrow a receiver but I can still win games with him.

Re: Madden 10 Passing Game needs fixed...

What bothers me is when trying to throw certain route, sometimes if the WR is jammed the QB will throw the ball to where he currently is standing, instead of where he should be. Case in point, you almost have to wait for the WR to make his cut on an out before you throw it. most times the QB throws AS the WR makes his cut. Same for any route. Slants, comebacks, everything. Don't throw a comeback early, because then you're throwing a streak/fade (sometime)

Timing is off on the dropback and the routes as well. some plays run routes that need a deeper dropback than what the play is given. There are times when the play is there if the drops and passes would match the route, but the ball won't go there. You have to have a madden timing and not football timing. Its functional though. I think its along the lines of the animation speeds and ball speeds not matching up as well.

Also, before the patch QB's don't throw the fade routes to the right spot either. Now it doesn't really matter because of the route delay EA implemented.

before saying the whole system needs an overhaul (like a certain group) I think a good fix may be adjusting the speed of the ball and/or the defensive animations may go a long way in fixing some of this.

Ahhh yes...

I tried to throw a deep out in my last game and I knew where he should cut and I threw before he cut expecting the ball to be where he will be in a second. Did that happen? NO! The ball targeted where he was at instead of where he should have been when I made the throw.

I really hope they fix this at least by Madden 11.

Timing, route based passing would be nice.

The biggest want I have for the future is just authentic trajectory. Once you have it (APF) it is hard to go without it.

Yes and it is the exact reason why I will be playing APF this weekend. QB's throw to a spot most of the time not where the WR is at but where they will be.

This has to happen in any football game who thinks it will be SIM or what you see on Sundays!

Re: Madden 10 Passing Game needs fixed...

I agree 100% with the OP. You can't find a happy medium with the passes, if you try and lob it, it will go way up. If you throw a "bullet" it will be slow. The ball needs better trajectory and it needs to get to the WR A LOT quicker. In Madden the DB's can easily catch up to the ball. Also, it seems really hard to throw a deep ball out in front of the WR, can't really lead him.

The passing game is just so bad in so many ways. From the trajectory of the ball to the DB's having no physical rules, ie swatting and turning 180 degree in the air, not having to plant your foot when cutting, etc.)

My biggest issue is the DBs running the receivers routes like he already knows the play. So aggravating and annoying.

But I agree with most of what the OP said.
