Player Development

Do you guys think players should progress/regress on a week by week basis? For example, lets say you have a 90 OVR RB run for 20 yards on 10 carries. After the week is over, he will dip to an 89 (+1, -1, or even no increase to avoid crazy progression/regressions from occuring).

The reason I say this is because some players come out of nowhere and become pro prospects (like Tony Pike) and others were highly regarded and went nowhere (like Tommy Blake).

IMO, this would add strategy to your dynasty. Here's a simple example, lets say you have 2 QB's in your depth chart:

QB#1- 82 OVR Senior (RS)
QB#2- 77 OVR Freshman

If after 6-7 games, your senior drops down to a 77 because he is not cutting it, you may be tempted to try out your Freshman. However, doing so may harm your 2nd QB's developement (as he may also go down). Some may pull the trigger and make the switch while others would stick to their senior since the season may be lost anyways. I would love to make those kind of decisions.

I don't really think you should go down, unless you're doing REALLY bad like 20 INTs 8 TDs.

I would have no problem with progression or regression from week to week, seeing how players progessed from week to week in the last-gen games. But it should be subtle, like the last-gen games, nothing big. Also, player ratings need to go down when injured.

I agree with you here. Actually, in NCAA 03 the injury rating is actually factored into the players' overall. They need to put this back in because injuries do affect performance, playing time, and even draft status.

Also people do progress week-to-week a little bit.

Re: Player Development

I had put this in a thread on the main board...

playing time should be in the equation of player progression. This will make playing the backups rewarding for your team. At least make them progress faster/better than a player that doesn't or hasn't played at all. It just makes sense.

Playing back-ups should be beneficial. There is no need to play back-ups in 10. Experience means nothing, really. But, I'm sure a whole lot more people would play there back-ups when there up 50-7, when they progress a little. Love the idea.
