What are the best places to preorder from here in the US to get games early?

If you have a PS3, which I don't think has region coding, you can buy it from the EU or AUS. You'll have some issues with shipping as some will not ship to the US. You can always try asia.

For the 360, I'd not worry about it too much. Unless you have a PAL xbox or mod the thing you aren't going to play it.

So there are no places here in the US that will get you the game a few days before the 20th?

No online retailer in the US will probably offer the game before the 20th.

You’d have to hope a local store puts them on shelves early.

The only other option is ordering from a European/Asian/Aussie web site, though with the money it costs for shipping and the long ship time, it’s probably best to wait, in my opinion.

The only way a store would have it early would be if it's street-dated and, to my knowledge, FIFA has not been in the past. It's simply not a big enough seller in NA for that to happen.

The only way it might happen would be if there are other prominent releases on that day that would be street-dated. That's what happened with NHL10 which is another release that usually didn't ship early (Marvel/Capcom UA & Need for Speed Shift were the same day I think).

Ya they don't usually ship this out until the actual street date. It's not like other games where they'll try to put in into as many retailers hands as possible so they must ship early.

Still the delay from the EU's release to ours is strange.

Re: How to get the game early on NA?

I ordered a copy for my PS3 from Renchi.com. They said it would ship anywhere in the world in 3-5 days, and it was only about $70, which wasn't too bad, I thought. I will keep you updated on how quickly I get it.

The only way you can play it early is for the PS3, I believe, since, as pointed out above, the games aren't region-coded. The 360 is, so I highly doubt a copy bought from overseas would work on a US system.

For 360, it depends on the game itself. For example, Madden 2010 and Tiger Woods 2010 are both region-free, so a US version works on a PAL console and vice-versa.

Unfortunately past FIFA/UEFA games on 360 have all been region-locked, and i doubt things will change for FIFA 2010. So 360 owners are stuck waiting for the US version to be released.
