It's all about animation and AI.

I am not just blaming Madden for this issue. Is it just the jump from 2-d to 3-d that is affecting us? I am playing other games and I am aware of the animation engine engine. Sucation blocking or being trapped in animation in other games. When I play F-Zero on the Super Nintendo I don't think about the engine in the game? It this the limitation for 3D animation the can not be overcome?

-Name a game with AI that has impressed you.

-I have not found one on this gen of hardware.

yeah right, after 3 seasons in the show you know the cpu's patterns, you know when the y might steal 2nd or bunt etc, the show just looks beautiful and does not have many exploits if tuned right, but the AI is predictable but thats not a bad thing

while 2k games pride themselves of having deep playbooks in all their sports games the b-ball games dont always play correctly, they dont recognise star players and they dont play like their real life counter parts, but 2k comes close in terms of effort, but look at nhl 2k series or nba 2k9 these games were horrible if you were a die hard fan, you played it because you were a loyalist but they were horrible in terms of realism...

c'mon lets be honest, madden is bad but there are no perfect games out there

NBA 2k9 did impress me 3 times. I was playing the Raptors and in the 4th quarter they put the ball in Bosh's hand on the right side low block every play like real NBA teams do. He shredded me, if I double he passed out, if I single'd him up he took it straight at us.

Then in the finals in game 6 i was up 3-2 against the Blazers and Roy decided that he would not let his team go down without a fight. For the first 5 games he just let the O come to him and he did ok. This game, he was a killer. Anytime he had the ball he was determined to score or make something good happen. He finished with like 52 points. That impressed me that the CPU recognized it was the clinching game and their star player decided to put them on their shoulders.

The 3rd time was with King James. A couple years into my franchise, CLE moved him to the 4, I thought I was about to abuse him by posting him up, WRONG. He recognized he had the speed advantage so he stepped out on every play and took my dude off the dribble every time, he fouled him out and everything. I couldn't stop him. That impressed me that he saw he had the speed advantage because every other time he played normally.
