What's the deal with lines staying on for 10 minutes?

I have my line switching to auto and play 5 minute periods with stock fatigue sliders.

My lines stay on for ridiculous spells of time on the ice. I often dump the puck if a line has been on for a long time, yet the players would still not go for a change. I decided to start paying more attention to when lines change and noticed that, on one occasion, my first line did not change until 10 minutes of the period had elapsed.

I don't want to mess with the fatigue sliders becasue 1) the players' energy level is quite down as it is and 2) I don't like when players skate around at half their normal speed

Any thoughts?
How do you prompt players to change quicker with auto line?

If you really don't want to change the sliders around (which I would suggest doing) you can always push circle on ps3 or B on xbox and cycle through your lines during play and change them that way.

I've seen that with my lines as well, although maybe not to that degree. I usually play with auto on, but I'm going to have to start manually switching. This morning my first line was on two yellow ticks of energy, so I ice... um, gosh, what were we talking about again?

A rule in the NHL is if your team ices the puck you can't make a line change .

Okay then, I'll just delete that last post of mine so I don't look so stupid! But you have to delete my quote or this won't work.

Now, that is something I didn't know... Is this an International Hockey rule too, because I don't think it applies over here in England? Or may be I never paid attention...

Anyway, back to topic, are auto line changes broken or is there a knack to increase the frequency?

This is a relatively new rule in the NHL, implemented a year or two ago. I like it, because it keeps a team from doing precisely what baa7 tried to do.

There you go. I haven't followed hockey or watched a game on TV in eleven years. So I'm not stupid, just completely clued out is all.
