Ridiculous contracts in Franchise mode (possible draft spoiler)

So, I got the
Spoiler
draft in my Cowboys Franchise and had to let go of Tony Romo the previous offseason due to salary cap issues, so I figured I would trade up to get the #3 overall pick to draft him. I had two 1st round picks (from the Romo trade), so I traded my 1st rounder and 2nd rounder to move up and draft Reno.

I went to sign him, and he wouldn't take anything less than the max contract I could offer him. I had to sign him to a 7-year, $112 Million deal, which is absolutely insane for a rookie QB, even a top 5 pick.

The problem is prevalent throughout all positions (although, it seems to be the worst among CBs), but this is the worst example I've encountered in 10 seasons' worth of off-season resignings, free agencies and drafts.

Also, on a side note, I was looking through the FA pool and was looking to sign a backup LG who was rated a 62 OVR and it said that I could sign him to a 1-year, deal for $750k (this was mid-season to replace an injured player), but when I went to sign him he kept wanting a 5-year, $25M deal. Anyone else seen that happen?

Typical... Franchise was supposedly going to be 'fixed at the roots' or whatever.

So much for that.

What sucks if CPU is set on filling roster, he can sign that LG for the original asking amount. Something like 650k with no bonus...one thing I dislike the most in this years Madden.

i think that soon enough without a rookie cap we'll be there.i think its hilarious you can't sign rookies to 7 year deals anyways.

6 at most. read up on the CBA if you are a doubter.

if they do the draft like HC09 for M11, i'll literally be wiping manfluids off my xbox 360 for 3 months.

by that i mean

a)include next year's default 7 picks for trades, with the correct values (1st next year=this year's 2nd, etc)
b)let me stockpile as much as i want a.k.a more than 10 picks a year(this would be perfect for an 80 man roster, but we won't see that ever.
c)rookie holdouts, actually feeling as if time went by instead of that damn signing screen.

what better way to utilize a new franchise hub (eerily similar to PS2 as far as the setup.) than to make it a real franchise mode?

They definitely need to do the draft like in hc09...i think they will next year.

as far as the rookie contract, i dont think thats too far-fetched. every year rookies are getting more and more money, and considering that you are a few years into your franchise, it seems entirely realistic to me to see a 7 year 112 million dollar rookie contract.

those FA signings are ridiculous...agreed.

I just encountered that myself. Drafted a qb in the 1st round to replace Jason Campbell but he wanted more than i could offer. I said screw it and went to look for FAs.

Then I went to look where he ended up and he was signed by the Pats. They only had him and Brady on the roster. I was like thats crap. Then I looked and they signed him for 310k and no bonus. Seriously, that doesn't even make sense.

Re: Ridiculous contracts in Franchise mode (possible draft spoiler)

I was going to make my own thread about this but it applies here. I went to check to see who drafted who in the last draft. I quickly remember that there is no way to tell this.

My logic told me to check who the highest paid players were in my franchise. I found something shocking. My LT I drafted with the 8th pick was getting paid the most money out of all the rookies in the past 2 years. It looks like the CPU gets to sign its rookies to bargain deals compared to what the human has to do.

As far as FA are concerned, I am going to try and change the FA position to K or something to get their price down in a normal range.
