NBA 2K Tidbits: Necessary Improvements

As a big fan of the NBA 2K series, I’ve watched it transform into nothing short of a masterpiece. During this generation it has easily been the top hoops title when it comes to playability, accuracy and depth (some argue it's the best sports title around), but there are some issues that need fixing. And when you play a certain game a ton, you tend to notice a lot of things you would like to see improved -- not because the game is bad but because you expect the world out of a title you already love to play. So in my next column, I'll to focus on the top 20 issues in the NBA 2K series.

Here, though, I want to focus on some of the things that didn’t make that list. Since these are still vital and necessary issues that need to be addressed, I figured I would touch on them, even if only briefly.

I can honestly say, you're the only one I see keep posting about success rate of buzzer beaters. IMO it's in your head. If you were right, Flip Murray would be leading you to the playoffs in our online league.

I agree with you greatly on the Free-Throw boxouts. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to slam a controller on 2k9 because I lost a lead in the late going because of that.

Great article, but i do have one comment. I believe you are giving too much credit to the current NBA when it comes to defense and fundamentals. Many of the guys do not Box-Out and when they do box-out they are penalized by the media for not getting rebounding numbers (Eddy Curry boxes out almost every time, yet avgs 5 reb a game). NBA players repeatedly leave their feet on perimeter pump-fakes (just ask Kobe, or even Ray Allen as he got Joakim Noah to foul him at the end of a very important playoff game by simply pump-faking).
