41/82 option.

I'm really liking most everything we're seeing about NHL '10'.

But the one thing that disappoints me is [at least as far as I know] the lack of a 41/82 game option for length of regular season.

Now I want to play my "Be a GM" mode as realistically as possible, and I suppose an 82 game season would be a big part of that. But man...for those with full-time jobs and families, thats one helluva long season. And I'd hate to resort to simming as a cure. The last thing I personally want, is the cpu deciding my fate and stats for me.

Unless my math is fouled up, a 41 game regular season would work out fairly well. You could play each of your division opponents four times...and the rest of the league once. To me...that seems like a decent compromise for a 41 game season. I mean...I'd like to enjoy more than just 3-5 seasons at best, of dynasty mode. And even to accomplish that, will be quite a feat for me at 82 games. Of course a deep run into the playoffs, and your up over 100.

I just hate to have such a great looking mode like "Be a GM" be limited to just being able to play so few of seasons. I'd prefer each game to feel important...rather than having to whip through them to have any hope of getting a few seasons in the books. I have no idea of how difficult this option would be to add. [although I believe 2K has it] But I would think that for many...a 41/82 option would be more than welcome.

I'm wondering how many others feel that this is at least somewhat of a priority for the future?

Definitely with you here. Basketball Baseball and Hockey seasons are never played in full for me. I would enjoy 41 games a lot and would get a ton more enjoyment out of this game.

I agree with you 100%. However I am big into statistics so I need to play a full season to get the right kind of stats.

Agreed...there's no way I can battle through an entire season! It would be great if they could do that in a patch...but I know that's nearly impossible, so here's hoping it'll be in next year!

I find the football games I can play the entire season and even a college basketball season, but hockey, no way.

Re: 41/82 option.

I agree 100% as well. The option for a shorter season used to be pretty standard in sports games, but it is becoming rarer and rarer to have the option. Baseball is even worse. 162 games...shish.

I also hate simming games. I would prefer to give up some statistical accuracy to be able to play all my team's games. The stats actually become more meaningful for me as I know they are my stats. At least give us the option. Infact I would go as far to say that I woudl like a 20 game option.

The only time I ever simmed games was on MVP baseball (which also had no option for shorter seasons). I went about .500 in the 40 games I played. But my team rolled in the simmed games....I easily won the division. It felt kind of lame.

Completely agree - there's only so many games that I can play after my wife and two kids go to sleep. At least if I want a functioning brain the next day...

A 41 game season would be perfect.

Re: 41/82 option.

I'm with you on this. Not only is it hard to get in multiple seasons if you've got a wife, kids, job etc. but if you're playing other games as well. I'm sure most gamers aren't just limiting themselves to NHL 10 so there's going to be lapses where the game isn't played. If you're confined to an 82-game season, it could take you a couple of months to get through a single season.
