Let's Not Give Up on Madden 10 Yet, But....

I have played Madden for nearly 20 years, since the Sega Genesis days. The game and sports gaming in general has come a long way, but Madden seems to have fallen behind MLB The Show and the NBA 2k series.

After playing Madden 10 for the past 3 days, I can honestly say that I think this game has taken a huge step forward and has the potential to be a lot of fun, if and only if EA fixes via a patch the following issues:

Stat Glitch- fix tackling and sim TD stats

Broken Flats- Several people have tested extensively to prove this is broken

Clock running after you throw ball away

Also, field degradation seems to be minimal and uniform degradation appears to be non existent on ps3.

Pressure from player def. line needs improvement but can be playable with adjusted sliders, but still needs some work

Something to look at in the future....a different way to kick the ball. I would like to go to a cross bar style meter that one meter controls distance and the other controls accuracy.

The first 3 issues are deal breakers that have to be fixed IMO. Now, I think we should all hold off before trashing EA and Ian and the gang. We are in an era now where these things can be fixed with a patch, where as not to long ago, this would have been the final product and you would be stuck with it until next years game.

It is time for Ian and the EA gang to man up. You guys are almost there. This game is so much better in many ways than the last 3 years of Madden. However, if these basic things are not patched, the game is ruined again, and you guys, while possibly looking good on the sales end of the game, will have no credibility with many of the loyal Madden supporters on this site and elsewhere.

I am not giving up yet on Madden 10. But I am not going to wait 2 months for a patch to fix this stuff. Some of it so basic that it should have been caught before release. If it is not caught, I question this group of developers knowledge of football which may be the reason why this crap continues to happen.

If it is not fixed, the only way to get the game right again is to stop buying the game. I know people have called for boycotts of the game in the past. It is the only way to get OUR game back. We have to show our disgust and unhappiness by not buying the game if they do not fix this stuff. That will force EA to find a new team to come aboard, or at least make the NFL look at its agreement and open the field up for some competition to put out a quality NFL product.

I am not trashing Madden 10. There is no one who has played more Madden or loves this once great game more. It is 3 or 4 , I would think relatively simple fixes away from being one hell of a game.

for me my biggest problem with madden 10, is the inability to get user sacks, i get a ton of pressure, but the computer tosses up a lame duck rather then take a sack.

I've had no trouble getting sacks (in fact, the amount of sacks I have been getting lately is completely unrealistic at 6 sacks with one player, with the Lions D). Dive at the QB when you get close.

I agree with the original post. It's a great game. My other gripe is the fact that players tend to attempt over the shoulder catches wayyy to much. I threw a post that I wanted my receiver to go up and catch, and instead of going up and attacking the ball, my receiver turned his back to the ball and tried to catch the ball over his shoulder while jumping...it gets frustrating

Sliders can make the game playable. A patch will make this game great. I can still play it, but agree a pitch should come in the next 4-5 weeks

I, like you, have been playing Madden since the SEGA days as well. Your statement above says it all. What they need to do is bring in consultants to advise them on the accounts of being in the NFL. Once they have this, they need to revamp the system. Mo Cap every aspect of the game, wide outs on DBs, O-line and D-line interaction, QB and center snap exchange, and linbacker and full back collisions. Once these are Mo Capped, apply the proper physics to these aspects. With these "powerful" systems in place, this should not be too hard to do. I was always taught, in retail, that the consumer is always right, does this apply to EA?

Just be patient. It just came out, give it a minute. Now if in a month or so and it's still the same then we all have every right to complain. Don't get me wrong, I'm having some the same issues as well. But I have heard people are already given up on it.
