Miracle comeback for win

I play as Arkansas, year 2 of my dynasty, 7 minute quarters, All American level.

Playing Florida (11-1 ranked No. 3) in the SEC Championship game. I was No. 17 and 10-2.

It was 28-28 at halftime and 35-31 Florida going into the 4th.

The Gators get a FG and a 76 yard pick-six to lead 45-31 with 4:50 to play. I am forced to punt and as you can probably tell by the score, I was having massive issues stopping UF, so I have to try to get a turnover.

Jerry Franklin, the Hog OLB, grants my wish and turns in an 86-yard INT return to cut the gap to 45-38 with 4:12 left. My defense rises to the occasion and forces a punt with around 2:30 to go.

I drive down the field, trying to milk the clock as much as possible. I score on an 8-yard TD pass from Ryan Mallett to Cobi Hamilton with :57 remaining to tie the game at 45-45.

I am a bit down because I know UF has enough time to march and kick a field goal to win it. However, my defense again steps up. I force a three and out and oddly, UF calls a timeout on fourth down with around :30 or so left. I guess it didn't much matter because I had a timeout left and would have used it.

I get the ball and also go three and out with :07 left. I decide to punt.

Here's where the miracle happens. Florida fumbles the return, Andru Stewart picks it up and returns it 32 yards with no time left to give the Hogs a 52-45 miracle win.

I kinda feel the CPU let me win. The entire game UF was unstoppable, completing everything time after time. Then with the 45-31 lead the Gators couldn't do anything on offense. I wasn't doing much different, except turning up the chances for INT and fumbles on the one drive where I got the pick-6. The fumbled punt was the sealer. I dont think a rational coach would have even tried to return it in that situation.

Anyway, it was certainly a miraculous win.

Re: Miracle comeback for win

congrats man...sounds like an intense game. i had one similar in year one of my offline dynasty with ohio state. i was playin #4 usc in the horseshoe and i dont remember the details that great, but i was gettin demolished 35-7 at halftime. i thought i had no chance at winning at all. in the 1st, 2nd, and halfway through the 3rd quarter usc made absolutely no mistakes what so ever...no penalties, no injuries, no turnovers, long runs for tds, long drives that ended up bein tds, long passes for tds, and returns brought back to the house...everything was going perfect for them until midway through the 3rd quarter they scored to make it either 41-14 or 41-21. anyways, the usc kicker lines up and misses the PAT and the score stays the same. thats where it all changed for me...i start creepin back into the game with a turnover or 2 and stuffed em on d a couple times. so i later scored with a pass to either herron or sanzenbacher i forget who with like 1 min left to take the lead 42-41. i kickoff and get a touchback, with usc on their own 20 and under a min left...the first play was an 80 yd td pass from corp to ausberry. i was like wtf you have got to be kidding me...i was just assumin the cpu was in comeback mode and i was gonna lose no matter what...they go for 2 and dont get it so it is 47-42 with like 30-40 secs left and i drove down field like 60-70 yds on the ensuing kickoff and scored on like a 10-15 yd pass to my TE ballard, who no one decided to cover, with like 5-10 secs left...i couldnt believe it...i went for 2 and got it and went on to win 50-47...best game i have played in, so exciting...from thinking i was goin to get blown out, to overcoming the deficit to take the lead, then it takin right back from me, and then to drive down the field late in the game to swoop in for the victory...it just felt awesome

Nice win. If it was the other way around the "comeback AI" crowd would be all over this thread.

Congrats! Are you in the BCS Championship?

Cool. I kinda like how each game is different. I usually play as Texas or 'Ol Miss and I was scoring in the 40's to 50's. Dominating on offense. With very little slider changes I have had to squeak out 3 wins. Scoring in the 20's and 30's against Vandy, UNC, and even North Texas!

The only major slider changes were to the KO power for me and the CPU as I was seeing way to many KO returns for TD's.

Re: Miracle comeback for win

I'm using Philly's Heisman sliders and my Ohio State Dynasty has had some crazy games... I was losing to #4 USC 27-10 with 3:30 left in the 3rd (7 min quarters) and came back to win -- scoring the winning TD with a QB sneak and five seconds showing on the clock.

Final Score: Ohio State 31 USC 27.
I did a whole blog on it if you are interested: http://www.operationsports.com/EvanRG/blog/
THEN, I have a harmless (or so I thought) game at Indiana who is 2-2. Indiana played me tough the entire 1st half and we went into the tunnels tied 14-14. Indiana actually took the lead late in the 3rd with a touchdown, 27-24, before I tied it again at 27 all.

I'll save you the essay, but let's just say this. Double OT -- Ohio State holds on to win 41-34. I was down 34-27 in the 1st OT and NEEEDED to score and Pryor saved the day with an 8 yard scamper and the defense stepped up HUGE in the 2nd OT after a Pryor TD pass.

I also just had a huge Big Ten match up against #24 Wisconsin (5-0, 3-0) -- I was ranked #4 at 5-0 & 3-0. Wisconsin kept it close early on, but the 2nd half I was able to capitalize on a fumble by Wisconsin on their own 1 yard line and scored a touchdown with the recovery to go up 38-21. I ended up winning 38-24.

I'll tell ya, Philly's sliders are giving me one heckuva game after game in my OSU dynasty.

Re: Miracle comeback for win

I Love these back and forth or come form behind wins. I actually lost one of those recently to Purdue. I was down 42-39 and scored the TD and had the lead 46-42 in which Purdue scored with :02 left and won 49-46 I was playing as Toledo.
