TW 11 Suggestions

These are the suggestions that I just posted at EA's site. Let me know what you think...

~Brutus

------------------------------------------------------

I am hoping that the EA/TW Devs read these forums and take our suggestions seriously. I have a few ideas that I think could enhance play in the future version(s) of TW Golf.

1. CADDIES! Caddies are a huge part of professional golf. Caddies don't only loop the course with a bag on their shoulder. They help with club selection and reading greens. Perhaps in Tour Mode, the level of the golfer/available money/etc. can help determine the quality or caliber of the caddie a player can hire. Obviously a caddie as experienced as Stevie would require a great deal more money than someone whose man just graduated from Q School. What this means in the game (on the course), the higher the caliber of the caddie, the better advice you will receive. For example in current Tour mode, no green reading is available. In this suggestion, you may choose to consult with your caddie about a critical putt. However, he may not provide the best read. If you choose to take his advice and it is slightly off, it may cost the putt or, worse, the tournament. As Johnny Miller will always say, the Player always has the final say and its his fault (not the caddy's) when he chooses the wrong stick or bad line.

2. Dynamic rain gear. Now that we have changing weather throughout a round, shouldn't there also be changing gear? If one were to play in torrential rains without the proper gear, rain suit, umbrella, spare gloves, the game would become even more difficult. It is the player's responsibility to carry these items in their bags to be prepared. If they don't have them, the game's difficulty should be increased or lessened according to the availablity or quality of the gear.

3. There needs to be a attribute cap or sliding scale or to put it into golf terms, a handicap system, for online tournaments. It is impossible to have fun and compete against scores like -80 that occur in a four round tournament. From what I understand, some folks are perhaps not playing with the highest integrity as one would expect for the game of golf. When you establish a USGA handicap (realtime), twenty rounds are recorded and used in the mathematical equation that establishes a handicap. Also when playing in your weekly league, generally the first 3 -5 weeks of the season are used to establish your league handicap. Why not create a handicap system so the "playing field is leveled"? If some people are going to compete such that they are birdieing or eagling every hole, the average straight shooter should be able to compete wth them. This maybe possible by lowering their ability attributes as their scores improve. It sounds backward but it may actually be an effective way to have more "normal" or realistic scores.

4. This is only for game aesthetics... how about a tournament wardrobe or clothing schedule. I don't usually change my Player's clothes per round. I either forget or am just too lazy to bother. It would be nice if they did wear something different during the four rounds of a tournament. Can a daily clothing schedule be created? Or perhaps even more simplified... by getting hired by a sponsor that pays you certain amount per year. Then you will be required to wear what the sponsor chooses for you.

So these are just a few of my thoughts to improve and already fun game. Thanks in advance for giving them some consideration.

Biggest thing for me would be to incorporate real USGA rules into the game. This would include ball-drop options for hazards (yellow stakes) and lateral hazards (red stakes). It should not be automatic.

Would also like to see options for open/closed stance, open/closed grip and being able to tee it up in different areas of the teeing ground.

Brutus...the problem with #2 and #4, and I totally agree with these btw, is EA's currently stupid systems of tying attributes to clothing items. It is extremely short sighted and limiting on their behalf and it needs to be done away with ASAP. More realisitically and common sensical would be tying attribute boosts to equipment as the tools you use should have more impact on the game than the color of the clothes you wear. And it goes without saying that max-stats outfits need to be burned and their creator fired. Imagine Madden or Live or FIFA with max stats uniforms. And therein lies the problem. EA doesn't approach the Tiger franchise with the same level of integrity as it does their other sports.

They actually need to scrap and rethink the whole attribute system as it sits now, but thats a whole other post

Bingo! No matter how much they improve the Tour Pro difficulty, which they have done greatly the past few years, EA still views TW as an arcade game. This is clearly evident by those stupid outfit boost, the stupid and crazy fake golfers (get rid of them completely), and the down right dumb player reaction animation that would never be seen on a real golf course. People would go nuts if they did some of this stuff in Madden and NCAA.

These two things still not being in the game really bother me because it shows a complete lack of understanding the basic rules and fundamentals of the game of golf by the EA dev team. There automatic drop AI gets it wrong more times then not and it bugs the crap out of me. Example: Say you are hitting over water to a green. Your ball clears the water but lands on a hill next to the green and rolls back into the water. The game forces you to re-hit fromthe same spot but, in real life you would have the option of re-hitting or dropping up by the green where the ball rolled into the water.

The tee box thing just makes it seem like the devs have never watch a second of real golf. You hardly ever see a pro golfer tee off from the center of thetee box (hell, I hardly ever do it in real life as well).

#1 on my list for next year is that they need to get playoffs right. The way they just ignore them in this years game is utterly ridiculous. They would never think of taking overtimes out of Madden or NCAA (or extra innings in a baseball game) so, it just blows my mind that they found this acceptable in a golf game. Just shows a lack or respect for the game IMO.

#2 would be to find a way to incorporate downloaded course into career mode.

#3 would be the USGA rules and tee box / stance stuff from above.

After that stuff is fixed, I would then be more open to #1 and #3 on Brutus's list (although #3 sounds like a great idea IMO as EA needs to do something about the online scores).

I think the TW dev team needs to go to a month long golf boot camp clinic. Maybe then they will start to get it when it comes to the little things of golf.

All of these sound pretty good. I really like for them to put in a handicap system for all the players. Hopefully it will be a awesome game with maybe more courses.?

Re: TW 11 Suggestions

I have to agree with everything said especially the playoff. I tied with some guy in a tournament this morning and I was declared the winner with no playoff. LAME and LAZY EA.

1. PLAYOFFS

2. Make it harder to perform under pressure situations. It has been a little more difficult to score in this years game, but with no pressure on the back nine of a major its easy to perform well enough to win.

3. Revamp the whole swing system making it much more difficult to hit perfect shots all the time. Another problem with the swing system is the trajectory of the ball. You should be able to hit knock downs with your wedges, but even more importantly hit a 3 wood into the air and knock it stiff. When it says you hit your 3 wood 255 on this game the only way that can happen is with 40 yards of roll. Not realistic.

4. The putting system was much better this year in my opinion but they should encorporate the caddy more and make it a challenege to actually read the greens.

5. Possibly bring back the Tiger Proofing option, but improve on it.

6. Allow for customization of your PGA Tour season.

7. Bring the Accenture Match Play Tourny to TW

8. During tournys give the option to the player to play with another player.

9. Add more golfers to the game.

I know theres a lot and some maybe unrealistic, but if i sat here for long enough I could probably come up with about 20 more things.

Re: TW 11 Suggestions

1. put titleist clubs into the game or take out the titleist players they have in the game.

2. caddies-have a system where the caddie gives you advice. imo caddies would add a ton of realism to the game

3. better cut scenes- goes along with the caddies. have cutscenes that show you player addresing the ball and standing near his bag talking with caddie.

4. add all the courses theyve ever made and put them in the game. no more dlcs. ea has enough money
