ACT ONE: The Beginning
PART ONE: Insomniac

*4:30am*

Can’t sleep. Three nights in a row. Game tomorrow. Why the hell did Coach tell me about that Scout?
I’ve been surviving on coffee and energy drinks, I think I have insomnia. Once seven o’clock comes around, I get out of my bed, out of my room. I put the kettle on and search the freezer for some toaster waffles. Cody was still asleep, dozing off, without worry of tonight.
I go into the room across mine and give him a little slap on the cheek.
‘Get up man, we have a meeting in two hours’
‘Alright, alright. Warm me up some breakfast.’ He grumbled.
I walked out and poured the water from the kettle. This should be a long meeting.

*11:55am*

‘I don’t see why we have to have this meeting, man. I told you, it’s just like any other game, except with one extra person in the crowd’ Cody said, getting out of the Dodge.
‘C’mon man. You must be a little worried.’
‘Nope, I’ve faced scouts before. Most of them are blind anyway.’ We jogged up the step to the doors of the arena. ‘Would you be freaking out if a celebrity was in the audience, just simply writing a review? Like Britney Spears?’
‘Ew, no.’ I commented.
‘There you go’
We got into the staff room of the McCormick Arena here in Toronto, where some other guys from the team have arrived. Rick, Perry, Joe, and a few others. They were pretty good guys, except they complained to much, and are way too cocky.
After a few moments, the rest of the Toronto Moose show up. Such a lame name, but hey, I’ll be leaving here soon. I think.
‘Alright team,’ Coach began, ‘As you know, tonight we are playing the Niagra Falls Canucks. But I lied. There will not be a talent scout there tonight.’
What? God damnit! There was mumbles from the team.
‘There will be three’
What? God damnit! More mumbles. How? Why?
‘One from the Toronto Marlies, one from Quad City Flames, for Calgary.’
‘And the third?’ Perry asked.
‘Don’t interrupt me!’ Coach snapped. ‘The last is from Norfolk Admirals, for Tampa Bay. Good luck out there tonight. The rink is open for all-day practice if you need it’
How the hell did this happen? Oh no, can me and Cody be separated? We are a unit, a team within a team. We pull the best plays together!
Even Cody looked pissed now. A little uncomfortable too.
‘Let’s go get our bags, bro. Come back and practise’ He said, glaring at Coach.
Cody was kind of hot-headed, but so was I. We wouldn’t back down from a fight, and maybe even start a few. I agreed as we headed out after everyone else. I heard coach stumbled behind us.
‘Guys, wait. I want to tell you something.’
We turned. ‘Yeah?’
‘You two are probably the best players I have on the team, and as a unit you’re even better. Whatever team you’re drafted to, you should be drafted together. The scouts should see that, and will fight for you guys. Both of you. Good luck’
‘Thanks Coach’ We walked out back to the truck for the short drive there and back. It was kind of quiet, in realization that we might have to move. Or wait for the Marlies’ scout again.
We quickly ran to the closet and grabbed our bags, threw them in the back of the truck and sped away down the road again. Getting dressed quickly, we slid out on the ice, stick in hand heading down towards the shooting frenzy.

Its because he copied and pasted it from MS Word. You should probably just write your stories on notepad, then copy+paste and make your bold/italicized/underline changes on OS.

yeah. I do all of mine from OpenOffice, which is a freeware version of microsoft suite. You can get powerpoint, and frontpage, and word and excel and all that jazz for absolutely free, but with only like 1 or 2 different, probably better, features.

since I'm too cheap/poor to justify paying the 100 dollars or whatever it is these days for Word, I just downloaded that, and have all of the major microsoft suite applications, but with a different name and whatnot. It's great, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is considering getting something like microsoft word or excel or anything.
