Re: 2009 MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

I dunno how old this rumor is but I heard the Sox would trade Clay Bucholz and Daniel Bard for Halladay.

I'd be tempted to make that trade but I'd want a bat thrown in as well.

It's been reported that Theo does not want to trade Buchholz but would consider trading Bowden. Buchholz and 1B Lars Andersen are considered "untouchable".

I really hope the Rangers don't try to get Halladay.

I feel bad for Bucholz the guy is considered untouchable but the Sox don't seem to have room for him. It's like they're hoarding him as insurance when he's clearly frustrated at pitching in Triple A.

I know he's with the big club now but I can almost guarantee he'll be sent down again by the end of the year.

This would never happen but it's an interesting thought...If a team would trade for Halladay but also take Vernon Wells and his $18mil contract off their hands, I'm sure Toronto would be pleased enough not to demand the top 1 or 2 prospects in the opposite team's farm system.

Doubt Boston would want to take on Wells while they're still on the hook for Lugo's contract too. I suppose he could play rightfield, and would be an upgrade over JD Drew...at least defensively (?).

I don't see Boston as a suitor for Halladay.
