Life as an AHL GM: Lake Erie Monsters (NHL 09)

Hello there again, everyone.

I have come up with (hopefully) a completely new idea. I will take control of the Colorado Avalanche. However, I will not be playing with them, ever. I will play out my GM career with the Avs AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

I will have a full team under contract at all times, and make signings and trades just as if I was controlling the NHL team.

I am not 100% sure how this is going to work yet, so the first season is going to be a test run more than likely. I will be simming regular season and stuff, then playing the key playoff games (elimination games, Calder Cup winning games), pending I make it to the playoffs in my first season.

I will give month by month reviews most likely. I am using the newest rosters provided by NHL 09, which aren't all that new, but it is only the AHL anyways.

Sounds interesting.

Can I ask: Do you call players up and if you can Will you call up your key players?

Also, say an NHL'er gets hurt. Will you call up an AHL superstar or just some crappy guy so it does not have an impact o your team?

The only way I will get players on my AHL team is by signing to two-way deals, or if 2-way NHL player is performing badly.

If an NHLer gets hurt, I will send up the player best suited as a replacement. I am not going to get super greedy. The NHL has to succeed too.
