Umpire Scouting Report

Hey guys...just wondering if the different umps really do call things consistently, or is the varible strikes just random? If it's consistent have you noticed the difference with different umps? If ya know the names and know if they have a wide or tight strike zone, let me know.

Re: Umpire Scouting Report

lol good Thread !!

i mean, the umpires all have different "style" to call balls and strikes.

i think, Max Stafford has the best Strike Zone ( good eyes, fair calls most time)

R. Mc Clure is not good , for me. ( he makes often stupid calls, he is blind ^^)

Earl Hendricks is solid, he has a fair strike zone.

Washington is so so, sometimes good, sometimes bad calls.

Re: Umpire Scouting Report

I like Ed Coleman, he calls the low strike, just below the knees, and this is where I like to pitch. I always have trouble with the umpires who won't call the low pitch a strike, because I don't like pitching up in the zone.

I think Wally Hughes is the worst, he has a very inconsistent zone. I dropped in a perfect curve at the waste yesterday, and it was called a ball, even though it landed squarely in the strike zone. I also had a curve at the knees called a ball, and then the next pitch was a cutter even lower, and it was a strike.

Re: Umpire Scouting Report

They should sticky something like this and make a scouting report on all of them so we can check while we play.

I agree... Wally is really bad!

I was pitching for my first perfect game against The Brewers with Harrang(spelling) 2 out in the 9th on a 2-2 count and throw a fast ball perfect down and away perfectly in the corner and he calls a ball. Next pitch is a base hit! I was very very upset! many dirty words coming out of my mouth!

Re: Umpire Scouting Report

Is there a way to see WHO the umpire is later in the game? I got a guy with the narrowest strike zone I've seen so far.

Re: Umpire Scouting Report

There was a thread when the game first came out where people were about to call for a virtual hanging of Woody Keller. He's all over the place.

Re: Umpire Scouting Report

What I have found so far!!

Nelson, Callahan, Keller, Porter: Tightest strike zone with this crew. Nelson doesn't call much high and Callahan seems to be the opposite. Inconsistency. These asshats need to go back to MLB Ump School in Compton.

Bryant, Sawyer, Hughes, Marquez: This is my fave crew so far. Bryant and Sawyer seem to have wide strike zones, Hughes tends to differ from them.

Porter Callahan is ump, you should see that his strike zone is extremely tight.

Stafford has a low strike zone.

Stafford has the best Strike Zone ( good eyes, fair calls most time)

Mc Clure is not good , for me. ( he makes often stupid calls, he is blind ^^)

Hendricks is solid, he has a fair strike zone.

Washington is so so, sometimes good, sometimes bad calls.

Coleman, he calls the low strike, just below the knees

Hughes is the worst, he has a very inconsistent zone. / Wally is really bad

Price doesn't give the pitcher many of the borderline calls down or up in the strikezone

dallas hodges: complete hitters ump especially low in and out

Ed Coleman calls low strikes for sure. Sometimes mid shins low.
Callahan, I think, has a small zone, mid thigh to mid chest really.

Woody Freakin Keller is a blind dbag
