Icon5 Sweet spots for clubs

I play on Tour Pro and want as "realistic" an experience as possible with this - there is no question that this game has a lot of promise, but the difficulty level is too easy on beginner. I moved my clubs to intermediate and shrank the sweet spots and I paid the price (thankfully) in the final round of the Memphis tourney.

On beginner, I had sweet spots of 51 for all clubs for the first three rounds and shot -1, -2, and -2 to get to -5 after three rounds.

I upped it to intermediate (by buying clubs) and shrank my sweet spots to 35. I shot +5 and finished Even for the four-round tourney. It was great.

Question for all - what do you think is the best sweet spots by club categoires?

DRIVER - I'm thinking 25 - 28
FWY WOODS - I'm thinking 30-32
IRONS - I'm thinking 35
WEDGES - I'm thinking 40

What do all of you play? Can you only "shrink" the sweet spot by getting Advanced or Expert clubs?

Online Play the Pro's is a blast; however they need to not allow any more than one submission. And, they may want to rethink the caps - instead of "7" for all categories, perhpas something along the lines of:

Power - capped at 8
Accuracy - capped at 6 or 7
Short game - capped at 7
Putting - capped at 7

And certainly, these category caps could vary by difficulty of the tourney.

This said, even with the caps, if my sweet spots are 55 and someone else is 20, the guy with the lower "sweet" is at a disadvantage, isn't he?

Re: Sweet spots for clubs

I've got my driver at 15. My fairway woods are higher (not sure what, I'll have to check). I do that so it makes it a real decision whether to risk using the driver on certain holes, or to go with the more dependable 3 wood. The problem for me is I've only been able to unlock a few clubs. I've got intermediate irons and fairway woods, and an advanced driver. I won't be able to check out the higher clubs in each catagory until I complete some of these challenges, which at the rate I'm going will be some time next golf season.

EDIT: sweetspot for my fairway woods is 35.

Re: Sweet spots for clubs

If the sweet spots is lower does that mean more power but less accurate??

Yes. And you can also shrink the sweetspot by raising Workability.

Re: Sweet spots for clubs

Ever since I put my driver sweetspot at 20%, my game has gone down in flames. LOL

First offline tourney, failed to make the cut, +14 at Pebble Beach.
Get off to a promising start at my next tourney (Torrey Pines) shooting an even par 72. Next round, I burst into flames and shoot a tourney worst 86. Failed to make the cut.

I really should consider changing the sweetspot back, but I find driving very realistic now. You have to think about every drive, when to use irons, etc... Since my sweetspot switch, my driving accuracy went from 80% to 64% ... which is about right. And, to be fair, my putting isn't exactly brilliant either.

Tour pro level, of course.

Re: Sweet spots for clubs

I've got my driver at 18% right now. I had it down to 14%, but I shanked two balls OB with it in the same round and decided I'd gone over the line.

Fairway woods I have at 22%, irons at 20%, and wedges at 31%. I need to see about getting some advanced wedges so I can tweak them lower. Still a little wild with the driver, but irons at 20% is a great mix for me.

I just played round 1 of this week's "Weekly" in the Tour Pro department. It's at Bethpage Black, and not only is it skill capped at 7, they've turned the green grids off! I'm terrible at gauging breaks without them. I wound up +11, which included 6 3-putt greens, one of which was from 3 feet!? More on topic, I hit 68% FIR and 50% GIR. It was a humbling round to say the least. Oh, and I still put one tee shot OB with the driver at 18%. It was a flat out push, according to the feedback meter. However, I do believe it would have stayed in play with a 22-24% sweetspot.

Re: Sweet spots for clubs

How are you getting sweep spots to 20%? I only can get all my clubs to 51%.

You have to unlock the intermediate, advanced and expert clubs. Check the Pro Shop.
