WOW...I just picked up MLB 2K7! LOL...its the best of the bunch

I'm pretty impressed with MLB 2K7...its more playable and looks more lifelike than both 2K8 and 2k9. The animations are much more realistic and human like. Especially the swings and head tracking. Fielding also seems more fluid and lifelike...The whole game just oozes more with the feel of being at the ballpark then these last 2 games. Also its just more fun to play.

The game is a little homer happy so you need to scale down the sliders ...and I wish there were more customizeable cameras to zoom back the batting/pitcher camera because the Batting view feels like the pitcher is right on top of the batter.

But man...was I happily surprised when I picked this up off the shelf for $5 at gamecrap and was expecting a retched game that needed alot of work. I have to say I would much rather prefer they use the 2K7 engine and just tweak that game rather than building upon the 2K8 and 2K9 engines which are awful clunky and lack that realistic and polished feel.

Maybe Im just nuts??......btw what are the most realistic sliders and can I somehow get 2K9 rosters onto 2K7. Is it possible thru live?

The only problem with 2K7 though is , from my leagues with that game, is that there's almost nothing you can do to tame down the homeruns without consciously taming them. (In other words you can homer just about anytime you wanted on a half way decent pitch) That was truly probably the game's only flaw. We lowered everything and just couldn't get the homeruns down and have a variety of hits.

2k7 was the best of them all imo. The main problem was that it was a HR fest. It was 30fps which made the gameplay a bit choppy. It had great graphics as well. I feel that they should have kept that engine and just make it 60fps and make it smoother.

After some more thorough gameplay, I can definitely see where some of this game's issues do shine thru

-some sluggish framerates at times
-loopy throws on occassion by infielders
-batter/pitcher camera lacks customization to get better views
-batted balls physics and trajectories seem a little supercharged and/or off in comparison to 2K9's more realistic results

I was able to tame homers a bit

I havent gotten into Franchise play so I'm guessing I wont see as much a robust'ness' as 2K9

Either way, I think 2K7 had a better foundation to work from....It seems like the player models and animations are stiffer and more robotic in 2K8 and 2K9 while 2K7 had more human and natural movements that just needed to be brought to a smoother framerate

2k7 was a rock solid game. It def. was much better than 2k8 IMO. I just loved the GM mode where you were given certain task and had to accomplish them by a certain date. I wish the show would implement something like this into their games.

However, the only thing that irked me about 2k7 is its minor leagues. It may not bother some, but I hated having a full AAA squad and only 3 AA guys. That didn't feel right for me at all. As a matter of fact, that is how I discovered the show. I was 2k and mvp the whole way until they half-a**ed this part of the game.

2k10 MUST add 40-man rosters, rule 5, arbitration, etc. if it wants to compete with the show. There is no turning back here. If they fail to add these features, people will probably never go back to them again. Good luck 2k, I'm truly rootn for you.

Re: WOW...I just picked up MLB 2K7! LOL...its the best of the bunch

I've said for a long time that 2K7 is the best. It's not perfect, but it's the most finished of all the 2K MLB games since then.

With the right sliders, you can get a pretty realistic game out of it. Just don't use the power swing. You can still get homers if you only use the contact swing (with good sliders).

My main gripe is the choppy framerate, especially after playing 2K9. But it's amazing that overall, it's still the best MLB 2K game they've developed.

Re: WOW...I just picked up MLB 2K7! LOL...its the best of the bunch

I did this same experiment as well.

2k7 is was actually amazing when it first came out and for the months ahead after getting it. 2k8 was a letdown from the start. 2k8 was actually two steps back from 2k7 to 2k6 all over again. 2k9 however was two steps ahead again but unfortunately only on par with 2k7 and not it's equal in the way that 2k7 made you first initially feel. So that said i PREFER 2k9 and thats becasue of the camera nagles and presentation and YES animations and overall FEEL. but it ain't eating candy I can tell ya that

Re: WOW...I just picked up MLB 2K7! LOL...its the best of the bunch

I played 2k7 when it came out (on an old tv too) and I didnt really like the pitching. 2k8 came out and I really like the pitch gesture thing, much better in 2k8 then 2k9. Besides pitching how much more different is 2k7 from 2k8? I played the game I just dont remember because I guess nothing really stuck out to me.
