Odd CPU substitutions

Anyone else see this from time to time?

Last nite, I was playing the Reds and was down 3-1 from about the 6th inning on.

In the bottom of the 9th, they bring in Daveid Weathers, the setup man. He pitches to one batter, gets him out, and then the Reds bring Coco in for the next 2 outs.

Why didn't they bring Coco in right away? Strange considering they are both righties as well so it wasnt a matchup thing.

Also, playing against the Cubs, and in the 7th they take Soto out for no apparent reason. Not a double switch. They just announce that Koyie Hill was the new catcher when I went up to bat in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Hmmmm, kinda odd. But I have only seen it a handful of times. But there are more times I see pitchers coming in for one or maybe two batters and then replaced right away for a pitcher with the same throwing arm. . .

I see that stuff all the time. There is no AI when it comes to righty v. righty/lefty v. lefty matchups. I've seen the CPU sub out a left handed pitcher with a left handed batter coming to the plate, and replaces him with a right handed pitcher. This is definitely one area that needs tightened up.

Yeah I noticed that as well. Sometimes the CPU will actually substitute itself out a a favorable matchup (lefty/lefty) and bring in a right handed pitcher to face the lefty???

This does need some tightening. . .

Re: Odd CPU substitutions

You all ever seen the sub the CPU makes in the 1st inning?? For example, I change the CPU lineup in the pregame screen and then after the top of the 1st, they put the guy in that I had subbed out. The sub pattern is for sure something that needs a tweak.

Re: Odd CPU substitutions

I had the Astros PH FOUR guys in a row one game. Then they put Darin Erstad at 3rd and Jeff Keppinger in CF...uhhh...other way around Cecil haha. Had a random IF come in to catch in the 9th one game too. Doesn't happen too often though.

Re: Odd CPU substitutions

The other sub problem I have noticed that happens quite frequently is letting a pitcher hit/lead off an inning and then substituting a RP in the next inning.

I need all the help I can get, but you know...

Oh yeah, I have seen this.

SCEA just needs to tweak the AI substitution patterns a little bit for 2010.
