Historical teams.

I'm just wondering if theres any interest in having historical [defunked] teams such as the Winnipeg Jets, Oakland Seals, Minnesota North Stars, etc, added to NHL '10'? And be able to use these teams in dynasty mode.

As much as I'm enjoying the NHL game...I'd enjoy it even more if I could bring back some of these old teams back into the league. Do others have any interest in this?

The old 2K games had those teams. You had to type the actual names in if you wanted accuracy, but it was still awesome!

Re: Historical teams.

I was watching/playing hockey back in the Original Six days. Expansion was the worst thing that happened to hockey back then, and I still have bad memories of all those Mickey Mouse teams like the California/Oakland/California Golden Seals. So for me, no -- I don't miss those teams at all. I prefer creating and adding all-Russian and all-Scandinavian divisions to my dynasty.

Re: Historical teams.

I'm pretty much sold I believe, on NHL '10'. And I'm fine using the Wild as my dynasty team. But dang...I grew up watching/listening to the North Stars. I'd love to put the North Stars back in the same division with the Black Hawks, Blues, Red Wings etc... Listening on the radio of games between the North Stars and Black Hawks from Chicago Stadium was a blast. I'd love to be able to recreate that with NHL '10'.

Hee-hee.. The very first NHL team I ever saw live was the Minnesota North Stars. They came to Edmonton (pre-Oilers days) to play an exhibition game. I was standing at ice level during the warmups and still remember the thrill I felt seeing Bill Goldsworthy skate by. The man looked like a god on skates with his golden locks shining under the bright rink lights!

Re: Historical teams.

That would be awesome. Hell, I'd love it if they had a "Vintage" mode. They start off from a past year, let's say the 1988-89 season for some reason, and it's like dynasty mode but back then. Also, have players that were actually drafted in those years, perhaps, actually be drafted that year, or at least the good/semi-good ones. Sure you'll know who will be good, but you're one person out of the 29 bots who don't know.

It will never happen, yes, but I like to dream it would

I would love to have that in a EA game. I remember in the 2K games you'd accumulate "points" and could purchase historic teams/uniforms. I remember one year they had the '72 bruins and playing as Orr and Cashman was awesome. It was great because the stats all seemed right, but obvioulsy with licensing they can't use the names or sometimes the right numbers. But that's what the internet is for! I don't mind putting in the names myself.

I don't either. When I rented 2K9 (never bought it), I thought it was a shame you couldn't play as the vintage teams in dynasty. (after I inserted the players).
