Problem in Every Defense

Back the linebackers on the 2nd level up. They are too close to the line. Every game has had this damn problem.

4-3 Defense the MLB should be around 5 yards off the line of scrimmage.
3-4 RILB needs to be around 4 yards off; the LILB needs to be 5 yards off.

43 (every front), 3-4 (every front), 46 Normal, 46 Bear, the MLB and the ILB's are just way to damn close.

I do not think a lot of people will care about the 'minor details' such as this...but this is something I wish would get BUMPED more often than little things (to me) such as colored cleats, and hot dog prices in Franchise Mode....

Dont get me wrong, I think they are important and need to be revamped, but I think the gameplay (starting with the formation sets such as 4-3, 3-4, Dime, ect), than the O-lineman (which is being addressed through pro tak), then D-Line, then QB (which is being addressed with its dropback), ect...should ALL be addressed before getting into modes.

But all in all..i love what they are doing with this years game..really addressing all 'minor issues' and game modes.

not all the time and not for every play. this is why I say defensive playbooks are all way too generic.

How many times have we seen teams like the Ravens, Eagles, Giants, etc with all 11 guys on the line of scrimmage? the eagles do a lot of this. yes, I'll give you this, that on base Defensive plays, the LB's are too close to the line. but i always see a ton of LB's, at least in the NFC East, that have LB's jumping around probing the gaps. they have an assignment for sure, but they try to confuse the O line and QB until the ball is snapped, then they hit their gap or flow to the ball.

bottom line, defensive playbooks need a lot of love.

LBz - was this something that was brought up at CD, or is this new info? Is Ian and the team aware?

Re: Problem in Every Defense

Two thoughts...

One, the LB placement lacks realism for the same reason previously explained by a DEV blog for alot of problems. Tweaks in speed and capture animation might make the realistic position affect gameplay in an unrealistic way.

Two, realistic LB placement might scale weird on one or more of the camera angles. If they mislead you into seeing them deeper than they were, the passing lanes might get altered.

Fixing it would be nice but maybe it'd open a bigger can of worms right now.
