What is Sim-Style Play in Madden?

To me, it is playing with integrity and being true to the game of football. Why would anyone want to play it otherwise? I play All-Madden, run a season each year with a friend, we play each weekly game after the real game is played, using injuries and starters for that week(all vids but cheese vids are from last year's season). I know not all take it to that extreme, but just letting you know how hardcore sim I am and how much I hate cheesers and how they ruin this great game.

Sim is stepping up in the pocket to avoid rush(it is possible in 09) to deliver your pass, only getting outside the tackles to avoid the pass rush, not running to the sideline when the ball is snapped, thats cheese!

Sim is executing a screen the way it was supposed to be ran, not rolling as soon as the ball is snapped and then throwing crossbody to the opposite side of the field!

Sim is using all the formations and plays available to you in your PB, so that on that 1st and Goal at the 8 you will truly fool your opponent on the draw. No quick slants or posts all game, or toss and dive B. jacobs every play, or the outside comeback high PA, fb dive and qb sneak, or Moss deep! I play with the Patriots, and if you disrespect Moss, I'll keep away from him and then burn you while your sleepin on him, but I wont throw more than 1 deep streak to him in a game.

Sim is running the correct D formation for the onfield situation. No Dime or Dollar or Quarter all game to stop the run. Rodney harrison is the alltime leader in DB sacks and he has less than 30! No CB or Nic blitz all game long, yes, DB blitzed is used, but in the right time, in the right situation. Hit stick should be used when the timing is correct, not attempted every frickin tackle(there should be a consequence)

To me sim is emulating the team you are playing with. I will spread you out while incorporating big formations to emphasize my power run game with the pats, with the ravens pound the rock, PA, etc...

I agree with you on all angles man. Some say Madden is closer to arcade than sim, and I CANT agree with that. What is your approach while playing the game is what matters.

Initially, I had a hard time seeing where Madden detractors were coming from. I've never played online, but I gathered that most discrepancies that people were pointing out happened online, so I started to understand a little more.

So basically, my vision on madden hasn't been..I guess you could say..tarnished like some peoples vision has, ya know.

Other than Madden 06 and 07 which were the two years I actually broke my yearly ritual and DID NOT buy Madden, I've enjoyed every iteration. When i read posts stating that Madden 09 is horrible, I cant help but think to myself that "this dude must be out of his rabid *** mind" lol. IMO, Madden 09 is the year that everything started turning around.

No questions, I know I'm going to love 2010.

Oh, and for the record I'm a 2k fan as well as Madden. 2k5 was the ****, but guess what....Madden 09 is too. 2010 is about to hammer the coffin closed on the 2k5 comparisons I think. If not this year, I want to go as far as to say that 2011 will only have one more nail left, and its a done deal.

Even after that, if 2k comes back out with something nice, I'll probably be first in line to get that too.

Oh, and reference folks saying how bad Madden is because of folks that dont play sim online. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that you can find errors and glitches in 2ks brand to exploit also.

I swear on everything, I purchased Madden the day it was released last August and I've literally seen the robo qb, and fast rocket catches just a hand full of times. I mean I could probably count how many times I've observed those errors on two hands.

I've been through two Madden franchise seasons recently, and observed that rocket catch ONE time man, and aint even lyin to ya.

You seem like the type of cat that I would love to play online (if I ever played online, which aint about to happen, lol)

Aye, this is how deep I get with this Madden/NCAA thing of ours, lol. I crank up the NCAA season initially, play through the season (usually with the lowest rated team I can find), every game, no sims. Draft the class out to Madden, then run the Madden season. Rinse and repeat.

I'll usually find the lowest rated freshman on the squad and play with that player until he actually graduates. No switching players during plays. I like to see If I can actually get him into the pros.

I have Microsoft excel documents with all NCAA draft classes (only the ones that make it into Madden, because if you notice, there are many players in the class, but only about 14 or so will actually show up in Madden ) I enjoy tracking these players and seeing how they are actually doing when they hit the pros.

All off season drafts and trades, etc. CPU handles that, I dont touch it. Yes, strange things happen, but I equate it to "hey this is another world, they do what they do", lol. If they want to release Manning after the first year, thats their problem, not mine, hell I'm currently using Chicago, lol.

Sometimes I'll randomly go through rosters and change the revolution helmets on random squads (****in things are terrible looking, lol). I gets deep with it mayne. I love this ****. My old lady...not so much, lol.
