Difference Between Models in Madden and APF2K8

When doing the video last week to compare running animations, one of the things that I noticed is that in general APF2K8's models and Maddens. The primary thing that I noticed is that Madden's model's feel 'smaller' with regards to the field. Their width seem smaller as did their height. I took some time and looked at the players laying down and the guys were both scaled properly when they were on the field (spanning about 2 hash marks or 6 feet). Any clue why Madden's model's look so much smaller? I know that Madden's field is wider, but I don't think that's all that's going on. Are my eyes just playing tricks on me? Anyone else got some helpful insight / clues as to the visual disparity in model size?

I think this may have something to do with the depth of field, as explained by Michael Young in one of the Madden blogs.

Yep, one of the main factors that gives Madden that cartoonish feel. Madden 2007 had perfect player Models relating to size.

It's a small thing, but it's really bugging me, and I can't quite figure out what it is. I think the width of the field has something to do with it. Madden's field is actually the right size, where as APF2K8's field is a little smaller width wise.

You ever have a word on the tip of your tongue and can't get it out? That's what it feels like right now when comparing the models and trying to figure out why one looks smaller than the other.

I think the waists are smaller in Madden than they are in APF2K8 (just a little) and the shoulders not quite as wide (which makes sense if the waist is smaller), but I'm not sure if that's the answer.

that just one reason why i like madden and not 2k football. the field in 2k just seems too small, and the players are too big for the field.

I like the size of Madden's field too.

Take a look at the side comparison with the WR's, it looks as though the APF2K8 models are 'thicker' overall and the Madden model's are more lean.

I also wish Maddens models were a bit wider/taller instead of the small and lenky look. I would love for the spacing between the O-line to be bigger than it currently is due to models being on the smallish side. If hey were a bit wider/taller the splits could get bigger. Thats one aspect that 2k's games did well (Splits that is).
