Strange Season Goals

I have gotten a pretty strange season goal...it is either the easiest one ever...or I am being set up.

I was able to snag singletary as my dc last off-season. The owner wants me to retain him as our coach. Since I have no control on a coach leaving or not (unless I fire him...which I dont plan to do)...what is the situation with this one?

What would make him want to leave...and what can do I to keep him?

Re: Strange Season Goals

I've never seen a coach leave without being fired... Almost every year one of my goals is to retain Rex Ryan, and he's never left to accept another job, which isn't very realistic, but what can you do? Unless a coach randomly decides to retire, but that's never happened to me either.

Coaches will decide to leave on their own sometimes either for a winning team, or to promote their self interests. It all depends on their personality.

Last year after losing to the Colts in the playoffs again, my Off. Line Coach just quit. He was my best coach.

Re: Strange Season Goals

Well...this season has started out pretty well. I am 5-0 (beat the dreaded Steelers and Ravens). My defense is ranked number 12 as opposed to 27th last season so I hope he is happy enough to stay. I got real lucky with my coaching changes and I think I have put together a great staff...would hate to lose any of them (except my gm...who is awful)

Re: Strange Season Goals

Coaches quit; it happens. In my full seasons, Jon Gruden quits a team everytime he doesn't win a Superbowl. What a baby! He usually coaches 4-5 teams in a 15 year career. I've noticed trainers quit at a much higher frequency than other coaches.

Another thing I noticed recently is when they do the off-season recap of coaching moves, you can see either the new team logo behind their headshot or an NFL logo if no one signed them after they left. The team logo behind their mugshot is kinda faint on the XBox360 so it took me a few dozen times to notice it. It's nice so you know which team to hold a grudge against for signing your coaches away from you.

Basicly it wants you to do well in a season so the coach won't lwant to leave, and it also don't want you to fire him.

Re: Strange Season Goals

Wonder if he....or any of the others quit...can we try to sign them again in the off season like we do with our players? I dont think I would do that...but maybe if we gave up a little control we could get them back. I was fortunate and didnt have to give up anything to get the guys I wanted.
