No Guess Pitch = Greatness!

I decided to play with Guess Pitch off, and man, has it ever been rewarding.

Before, i would swing at everything, but now i can get Walks when they're there.

It was a very, hard transition to NOT guess pitch or location but after a few games it's easier to lay off the R2 button...

Now, I find that it's more like 'see ball, hit ball' whereas before, psychologically, if i guessed the correct location, I'd be all geared up to swing, and when the pitch broke out of the zone i was looking at, I'd look foolish...

Moreso, now I am seeing more pitching patterns from people online, instead of the "uhh, i didn't guess correctly, now i have no clue' feeling".

Hopefully I can get there. Right now it is

Guess Pitch = a bit more realistic as I am getting 8-12 hits per game

Guess Pitch off = Eddie Volquez no hitting the Mets

I am working on it though. I am trying to only use guess pitch when I am ahead in the count.

I've always used guess pitch and I really enjoy it. Don't see myself ever changing.

another guess pitch thread . .. ahh well here's my .02. I never used it and I hit well (HOF) - I simply guess each location in my head before each pitch & try to take the 1st pitch (like 80% of the time) . I use the left analog stick and flick it in the direction I guessed as I hit the swing button. If I was looking outside and the pitch comes inside - even if it's over the plate I let it go by(you'll draw alot more walks cause of borderline pitch calls). When I get down to 2 strikes I will no longer use the left analog stick - just the X button so that I can fight off tough pitches and check my swing - anything that is fat over the plate will get cracked, usually

If these threads (this is about the 20th already this year) about Guess Pitch just stopped at "this works for me, you might wanna try it," I would leave them alone. Which is mostly what the OP did.

But crap like above compels me to respond. You, sir, are a video game elitist. You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how I play with Guess Pitch and it involved a great deal of strategy. The AI responds to your guesses, the AI adjusts, you are penalized for wrong guesses, I do not guess on every pitch, I do not guess both pitch type and location when I do guess, I do not guess fastball all the time ... the complexities of the cat-and-mouse game that you can have using GP are endless.

But if you need this little method to feel superior to others, you go for it.

I have played this game for two years, using GP and not using GP. I know exactly what you are talking about. For some, GP can become a crutch that ends up messing up your hitting. For others, it makes the game better.
