Icon5 HITTING - hold cursor or place it pre pitch

ok here is the question

say if a pitch is coming low and away.....

do i place the left analog stick cursor (which is invisible) in the zone pre pitch. release the left analog when i feel like the cursor is correct and then swing away

OR

do i hold and not release the left analog stick cursor and swing while holding it in the zone i think the ball is coming

Follow-up question to this one:

OK, so you move and HOLD the left stick where you see the ball to hit it.

Does your accuracy with the left stick affect the quality of the hit? In other words, the more the ball is centered in the hitting circle, the harder you will hit it? Or is anywhere within the circle going to produce the same results?

Been wondering.

The truer you can get the pitch within your pci, the better chance for more solid contact. Also your H/C zones factor into this as well.

Thanks, Nem.

That is what I figured, but good to get confirmation.

I would love to leave the hitting circle on for the benefit it might give me in learning to hit, but I just can't stand to have a big circle in front of me. Way too annoying.

I've always moved the stick when the pitch is coming, its low, I move it down. If its to the right, I move it to the right.

Perhaps we're not talking about the same thing though.

Re: HITTING - hold cursor or place it pre pitch

Yep, that's what we're talking about.

But the OP, I think, was talking about the PRECISE TIMING of when you should move the left stick. Could you just flick it to the bottom for a low pitch as you see the pitch come in, let the left stick go [in effect, 'marking' this as the hitting zone without holding the left stick there throughout the swing] and then hit X, or do you need to move AND HOLD the left stick down WHILE AT THE SAME TIME hitting X WHILE THE LEFT STICK IS STILL HELD DOWN....

And Nem says it is the latter. You need to move AND HOLD the left stick in the zone where the ball is while swinging. Makes sense, and makes hitting this year much harder, imo.

i dont seem to have a problem with it

i just want to see what the masses think/feel

so far only 1 guy has chimed in and that wont sway MY findings in any way
