Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders

For those of you who use Zone Hitting (THIS IS ALSO KNOWN AS CURSOR HITTING), you're probably starting to realize that all of the slider project topics posted here use the Directional Hitting configuration which isn't really appropriate for us Zone Hitting users for a slew of reasons. So I've taken OS/BigFnJoe's sliders and changed them up a bit to work a bit better for us Zone Hitters. Here they are, if you have any suggestions or comments, please post em here. There may be future iterations, there may not, depends on how these work out so we'll see:

Edited on 3/15/09:
- Lowered pitcher fatigue from 55 to 50 cuz pitchers were fatiguing a bit too fast.
- Raised User Bunt Contact from 50 to 55.
- Raised User Zone Hitting from 50 to 60. On 50, it seemed even when you were right on the pitch, you weren't getting enough hits.
- Lowered AI Batting Contact from 35 to 30 to get more user K's.
- Lowered AI power from 70 to 65, seemed a bit too high.
- Raised user baserunner speed from 50 to 55. On 50 it's next to impossible to steal second, even with the fastest runners. On 55, it's more realistic (and don't worry, you won't be legging out triples on every gapper, it's still realistic).

Edited on 3/19/09:
- User Batting Power: Raised from 60-65 - on 60, I was seeing a lot of warning track shots, but 2 homers in 5 games = not enough. 65 seems better.
- Raised AI Pitch Success from 40 to 50. On 40, there were a few too many "mistake" pitches laid right down the middle by the AI, resulting in a good amount of extra-base hits. This will make it a bit harder to get a pitch right down Broadway.

Edited on 4/6/09 Post-Patch, a few changes made, tested a few games, worked VERY nicely, had a few very realistic games. Test em out please!
- Turned off Inside Edge K-Zone
- Increase User Batter Power
- Decreased User Catcher Throw-Out Success, more realistic after patch.

- Decreased Pitcher Fatigue, they're still getting tired and replaced too quickly.
- Increased AI Batting Success, still weren't yielding enough hits to seem realistic.
- Decreased AI Batting Contact, this coupled with the increases in AI Batting Success and AI Batting Power should make pitching a bit more challenging and requires more of a thought process now.
- Increased AI Batting Power, was barely giving up any homeruns per game.

- Increase AI Pitch Success
- Decreased Hold-Timing Influence
- Decrease Release-Timing Influence
- Decrease Pitch Rating Influence
- Decrease Pitch Break Influence
- Decrease Pitcher Composure Influence
- Decrease AI Pitcher Composure Influence
- Increase AI Fielding Errors
- Increase AI Hit'N'Run Tendency
- Increase Base Runner Speed

Edited on 4/19/09 with few more changes:
- Lower Pitcher Fatigue to 40 - I'm now seeing pitchers actually go into the 8th and 9th innings if they're pitching well with low pitch counts.
- Batting Power increased to 100 - Yes, 100. I know it sounds high, but I wasn't see high power numbers, especially with pitch speed at 65. Even with pitch speed at 60, I'm not seeing ridiculous power numbers at 100.
- Pitch Speed back to 60. It's too fast IMO to hit realistic amounts of homers on 65, so I lowered it back to 60.
- Gesture Recognition to 65. Too little control on 70, too much on 60.
- AI Pitch Success to 55. On 60 the CPU is a bit too accurate and rarely makes mistake pitches.
- User Base Runner Speed to 65. On 60 it's still WAY too difficult to steal bases successfully. Considering upping this even more.

Edited on 5/9/09:
- Batting Pitch Influence - lowered to 75
- Batters Eye Influence - lowered to 25 - I don't use Batters Eye anyway
- Hit Direction Influence - lowered to 25
- Bunt Contact - lowered to 40 - way too many bunt hits before
- Bunt Success - lowered to 45 - same as above
- AI Batting Success - raised to 70 - pitching was WAY too easy before, way too many shut-outs.
- AI Batting Contact - raised to 35 - this coupled with the increase in AI Batting Success makes pitching much more realistic and much more rewarding. You shouldn't average 9 K's with every pitcher now and you will actually have to throw out of the strike zone. Had my first 100+ pitch game last game, much more realistic.
- Pitch Meter Speed - lowered to 75
- Pitch Speed - 65 - originally I said either 60 or 65, but on 60 I was averaging about 16 hits per game. More realistic on 65 with other slider revisions.
- Pitch Rating Influence - lower to 90.
- Pitch Break Influence - lower to 90.
- Pitcher Composure Influence - lower to 50 - pitchers were getting rattled way too often at 100.
- AI Pitch Success - 60 - coupled with the next change, this should make hitting a bit more realistic in terms of homeruns.
- AI Pitch Selection Tendency - lower to 65 - Ok, this and the AI Pitch Success are VERY important changes. With pitch selection tendency at 100 before and pitch speed at 65, it's almost impossible to hit homeruns because the pitch speed was fast and the pitcher was changing pitches too often. Now the pitch speed is still fast but the pitchers won't change pitches every pitch, then will throw a few more fastballs now, which means more offense for you and more power for you. Should make hitting much more realistic.
- AI Pitch Zone Tendency - 35 - CPU pitchers won't have pinpoint accuracy anymore, they will throw a mistake every now and again.
- AI Fielding Errors - raise to 35 - CPU still wasn't making enough errors before.
- AI Hit N Run Tendency - 65
- AI Sac Bunt Tendency - 65
- AI Steal Success - 45 - maybe we can actually throw out a baserunner

Edited on 6/30/09:
These will be my last changes. I think we have a solid set now.
AI Batting Contact- raise to 40 - I was getting too many strikeouts with good pitchers. This should fix that.
AI Batting Power- raise to 95 - The AI was getting plenty of hits, but no runs. They were only hitting singles. Now their hit variety will be greater without getting unrealistic amounts of hits.
Gesture Recognition- raise to 70 - Puts a bit more emphasis on making sure you nail your gesture or you'll get hit harder.
AI Pitch Selection Tendency- raise to 75 - AI was throwing too many fastballs, this should mix up their pitch variety.
AI Pitch Zone Tendency- lower to 30 - I wasn't walking at all before, this should make this a bit more realistic if you're patient.

User Settings - Batting

Inside Edge Batting Zone Influence- 100

I think this dictates how well a hitter will hit the ball if a pitch is thrown into one of their hot or cold zones using the IE feature.

Anyone using these besides me? I'm getting some very solid results with them.

Re: Padgoi's Zone Hitting Sliders!

Wow. I'm a zone user and my hitting settings are:

Batting Success- 25
Batting Contact- 5
Batting Power- 100
Pitcher Handedness Influence- 100
Inside Edge Batting Zone Influence- 100
Batting Pitch Influence- 100
Batter's Eye Influence- 30
Hit Direction Influence- 35
Bunt Contact- 50
Bunt Success- 50

Pitch speed - 100

I find these to be great. I hit with behind the pitcher view which helps with walks.
I usually draw 3-4 a game. The nice thing is I can see where the catcher sets up but the pitcher rarely fills the mitt. The speed is so high I have to really square it up to hit one well. The 100 power rewards me a when I do pull it off. Plenty of bloop hits too. The real challenge is you can use the up on the left stick to try and hit one out, but its really tough to square the left stick and swing the right at the same time. Gotta be a high pitch to ever pull it off. The CPU throws high fastballs and like in real baseball, HR's are really rewarding.

SandMac, my sliders are for ZONE hitting. Zone hitting is also called CURSOR hitting in this game. You are NOT using Zone hitting. You are using the directional hitting. I am using the cursor hitting (also known as ZONE HITTING) with the little bat cursor. If you put pitch speed on 100 with zone hitting, you'd strike out 25 times per game.
