Phobia's Head to Head sliders (Leagues)

PHOBIA'S HEAD TO HEAD SLIDERS

Being a 2k fan, you have to dive into the wonderful world of LEAGUES. With MLB 2k9 needing a second patch for sure and praying some of the issues get resolved. I wanted to spend sometime getting some realism sliders ready for league play. So once the patch drops we can get a league underway. Credit for a base to start with these goes out to *BigFnJoe*!!!!

I started out with Joe's spring training sliders as a base. Me and another guy tested them online couple games each night. What we were noticing is we were still nailing the ball. Way to many balls hit in the deep outfield and way to many home runs. What this did was cut down double plays to being rarely seen at all. So I wanted to see if I could limit the big shots to few times a game.

Next issue was that every at bat seemed to have very few foul balls. Perfect connections were to common. Wanted to see much more variety of the ball coming off the bat.

Lady in back row: "So what did you do to fix these issues?"

Well, First we jacked down the Bat Success, Bat Power, and Bat Contact all to ZERO. Then we went out there and played a game. Shots were just making it to the middle of center field. So we slowly adjusted the power until we were seeing 1-3 Home runs from each team in a game.

On to the contact, we were getting much more foul balls, choppers in the infield, loopers over the infield, etc. So this is the kinda of randomness with hitting we were looking for.

Last thing to tackle was the batting success. This is a very powerful slider. I have seen the most impact with this one. Jack it up to 50 and you will see big shots to the outfield often. Lower it to 0 and you will be lucky if you get on base all game. So tweeking this was needed. 30 is what we have settled on so far, but this might go either up or down 5 to 10 points after enough play throughs to see long term effects.

For the most part this should be a solid starting point for guys looking for league sliders. This is a total change from the batting practice default game settings. Having to work a pitcher and take more pitchs to tire a pitcher, get him to the later innings until you can get something going is not uncommon with this set. Walking to the plate and crushing the ball each and every time with no worry is no longer. But being able to still hit a Home run is there. I hit one just recently with Carlos Zambrano. Pitcher with the cubs. Give them a try against ya buddies in CUSTOM PLAYER MATCH and let me know how they look.

Good Stuff phobia. What I would suggest:

Drop pickoff to 0, this is really over programmed.. Everything else looks good

Thanks bro. yea we all know about the 2nd base pickoff issue.

I concentrated on batting mainly this time around since the pitcher/batter duel is so important. I was going to start looking at other flaws in different parts of the gameplay next.

Thanks for the heads up on the pickoff bro

Re: Phobia's Head to Head sliders (Leagues)

Hey Phobia. these are a great base for the head to head sliders. I tweak the pitching speed and meter up 5, but only because I feel that as we get better at the game, it may start to be easier to start tagging the balls again. Overall, I love the sliders. It has made the game much more enjoyable for me, since all I do is head to head multiplayer.
