Guitar Hero: Runnin' with the Devil

"After the release of Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits and Guitar Hero: Modern Hits, Activision has plans to release an additional five games in the series, including one based on Van Halen.

Eurogamer reports that, in addition to what they call Hard Rock Van Halen, Activision is releasing Guitar Hero V, Band Hero, another Guitar Hero On Tour for the Nintendo DS, and DJ Hero."

I read this last night, I am a huge VH fan so day 1 purchase for me. What sucks is that Wolfie will be out there instead of Michael.

How is flooding the market like this good for business. All it'll do is eventually kill the demand for games like this. These same people did the exact same thing to the Tony Hawk franchise.

Instead of releasing numerous titles in a year, couldn't it be possible to just support a yearly release with regular DLC, like a certain other music game?

That's exactly what I was thinking. And Activision is probably going to botch it to where you can't export the songs to Guitar Hero: WT like you can with the track packs for Rock Band.

That said, I'd be all over the Van Halen game...if it's not $60. I'd pay $30 for it and the Metallica one.

They're just running themselves right into the ground.

the thing is, the rock band track packs are $30. Except for the AC/DC pack, the general track packs are primarily for people without internet and are available as regular DLC.

Every one of these console Guitar Hero games will be $60, and I'm sure they'll consider putting them in instrument bundles to stack to the walmart ceiling. However, if Guitar Hero: WT was any indication, the market gets flooded with these to a point where you can find them used for $20 weeks later.
