Racing game recommendation(360)

I recently did a spring cleanup of my collected games(some people clean garages, I sell used games lol), by trading in games to game stores for credits.

I sold most games, including some racing games as well. I still have Forza 2, as I really enjoy that game.

I now want at least one more racing game, preferably less sim-style(have forza for that) and more arcade-y(although I like to at least have semi-realistic physics) racer for Xbox 360.

Which game would you recommend if I want just 1 more racing game? I really like the idea of new Need for Speed series, but I think those come out quite a bit later in the year.

Thanks for any recommendations. It's fun time to have so many great game titles in recent years.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to mention. I really enjoy having realistic dashboard view(inside the car view, with steering wheel and some panels visible), which I really miss in Forza, since they don't have one. It's not a crucial must, but it'll be really cool for me.

Re: Racing game recommendation(360)

Midnight Club LA is your game. Great graphics, in-car view and slaughters NFS at its own game. Arcade thru and thru but a better feel to the cars than Burnout or NFS. Tons to do and new big DLC on the way.

GRiD might fit the bill as well but personally I thought GRiD has some of the worst feeling car physics of this gen. They tried to be another PGR and walk the simcade line but fell on their face.

I would say if you haven't done a PGR game then go for that as well. PGR4 is very cheap and a good game. Burnout Paradise is pretty feature rich but just not my game as the racing kind of takes a back seat to the crashing.

Re: Racing game recommendation(360)

Thanks guys, for the comments.

I did try PGR4 and GRiD, and liked them for their own. But went to sell them because I've had similar issues with what Inin0 had mentioned. So did Burn Paradise.

So Midnight Club: LA is good? I'd definitely check that one out.

Meanwhile, more recommendations people! Thank ya thank ya

PGR4 because of in car view and the whether effects.

You could give a look at a Moto GP game. It has a good balance of sim and arcade type gameplay and is something different.

Re: Racing game recommendation(360)

I heard you say "arcadish" and I think this game could be described a little arcade-like, but I love DiRT. Rally racing is a blast and one of the games' most redeeming quailities (aside from stunning visuals and a solid sense of speed) is that the inside-the-car camera (or cockpit cam, whatever it may be called. . .the camera view from the point of the driver) is the best that I've ever experienced in a video game. For me, this view makes the experience what it is. I admit that I now shy away from games that do not offer this point of view.

This game is solid enough (with especially touching steering-one of its downfalls) that sometimes I'm satisfied with just watching the replay of a run I just participated in and basking in its speed and beauty. In addition, I find the damage modeling pretty well done.

Another downfall regards the online play. I am not an online player, so I have been unaffected, but I read that DiRT's online leaves a lot to be desired. I was also bummed about the decision not to include head-to-head racing (with a friend).

All that aside, I still love this game. It's great to throw in and play with a loud soundtrack in the background. With it likely being bargain priced, I recommend it to anyone who's not a heavy duty racing nut who thrives on picking apart games based on faulty physics or slight steering issues. I know nearly nothing about the technical side of racing, so I can't really comment in that regard (aside from the touchy steering) but I have a blast with this game.

I was crossing my fingers for snow in DiRT 2 but I guess they kind of backed themselves into a corner with a title like DiRT; should have been called Earth Surfaces and Various Forms of Precipitation: Day and Night Rally Racing Simulator (or ESAVFOPDANRRS).
