Re: Looking back

That video is a perfect example of why I will NEVER fall for the hype again.

Madden 08, was HORRIBLE and to listen to this video you would have thought the game had made huge strides.

It didn't.

I LOVE the weekly updates this year however, until I see this game in motion I could really care less about what they 'say' will be different this year.

I know the EA guys are working hard but, this video is just a little reminder of how they have suckered me time and time again.

They are 'brilliant' at marketing though, and that can't be denied.

As seen in this video.

Re: Looking back

I didnt watch the entire thing, but Ian did what 98% of people would do with a product they are trying to sell, by making it sound leaps and bounds better than its previous version, and anything thats come before it. If he was in that interview saying "well, its okay, probably not really that good, or "i bet we could of done better," noone would want to buy that product. Thats why im like one of the previous posters and im going to hold judgement until i see it in motion. Also, until people on here have the game and a few weeks pass to see if its actually worth it. I've been burned twice(06,07) and the way the economy is, $60 for a half-assed product isnt going to happen for this guy. I trust the community here to give honest opinions on madden. I have faith in Ian and Co.

Re: Looking back

You are are really rough... go grab you a copy of 07 (like $10 tops) along with 08 (same like $10...) ... and then sit there and play a full game of each, please oh please tell me the things he mentioned were not implemented... IK was a very new technology they put to work very well in 08, in 07 if you were tackled (like Ian said in the vid) you were done... period, no falling forward... no breaking out... just done... in 08 granted it was miraculous work by any means... but the technology progressed greatly...

Give these guys a break and undestand they are doing something this year that has NEVER... mark that down... NEVER been done by an EA team ever... they have taken the input and recommendations of the players, fans, and "fanboys" into consideration and have attempted to make the best game they have an opprotunity to make...

I for one will not hold an grudges, I will not be a doubter... I will anxiously wait and hope that Ian and the team are busting their * * * as hard as we all (the believers that is) think they are and antipate a wonderful Madden 10...

Madden 10 "HAHA doubters, I wish we could hold your copies from you"

That should be the tagline.

If everyone just bought in like you and no one complained on boards like these and the game was just selling in just outrageous numbers.....

You'd still be playing the '07 game only this year it would've had [New and Improved graphics in the bench press drill(with monster truck voice over)] and probably the most realistic and in-depth Play Now mode ever.

I hope Ian and crew make an awesome game.....but make no mistake....their communicating with us isn't innovation, it's deperation. Sales are down, they're getting outclassed by other sports titles, and in a weak economy people just won't continue buy the absolute BS that they have been putting out.

I wish people would stop acting like something earthshattering has happened. So far, all we have is a more public confirmation that EA is reading these boards. Community admins of boards like these, however, would tell you that EA has read them in years past as well--even if they didn't post much, or at all.

If Ian makes a great game--good job. Someone finally did what they should've been doing on a NG console. If he doesn't--well, what else would you expect from EA and Madden lately?

And if they make a game that just blows us away? We'll let gogocutler06 give him a job.

Re: Looking back

Even though that's funny now, Madden 08 was a whole lot better than 07 was in gameplay. I had a pretty good time with 08 during its time but yeah, looking back at it now, it wasn't that good and had problems. 08 was a D+/C- subpar game while 07 was just complete trash imo.

Anyways, the "small features" that have been announced so far for Madden 10 are of the same quality of the "BIG features" that were announced previous years in Madden games. That alone lets me know that the game will be a lot better than any other Madden. To tell you the truth though, no matter what they do to the game, I think that people will still complain about it until 2k comes back to make an NFL game (that is, if they ever do).
