should i give 2k9 a look?

i own a 360 and i own the ps3 only because of the show 08. Im not here to debate which game is better. After playng the demo of the show and knowing from what i have read that its really gonna be the same game as last year with a few tweaks.

i played 2k8 for a minute last year and the pitching controls were a outstanding idea. the thought of pushing buttons for hitting and pitching in the show this year just doesnt thrill me. but the idea of using the stick system in 2k9 is very exciting to me.

i will be honest, i loved 2k7, i hated 2k8 (which is why i bought the ps3). Do you guys think from what you have read and seen of 2k9 that i would be an idiot for choosing 2k9 over the show? is 2k9 gonna look and play better then 2k8? what about the choppy graphics from 2k8? those controls are really intriguing to me

thanks!

First off I don't understand why these questions even pop up on the board. But to answer your question yes you should give it look. You should give it a look because when a demo is released you can download it and try it yourself.

See the great thing about ps3 and xbox360 is the release demo's so you can get a sample of the game before you go out and spend $60 on it. So my advice would be play The Show demo you downloaded yesterday and wait for the 2k9 demo to be released. Play the 2k9 demo for a little bit and go from there.

Sorry if I came off the wrong way but honestly no one knows how good or bad 2k9 is going to be.

Re: should i give 2k9 a look?

You're asking questions that no one knows yet. Last year they promised us that we would have the greatest baseball game in the world but look how that turned out. So you really can't 100% believe everything you read. Areo is right, you have to wait for a demo to at least get a feeling for the game. As for my opinion, I feel the same way you do. The Show is still the same game it has been for years when it comes to gameplay, which is not a bad thing, but i'm really, really hoping that 2K9 pulls of a good game this year cause I really like how they came up with a new pitching & batting system.

We'll maynard, 2k has released 2 teasers. Both teasers are from In-Game Footage. Take a look if you haven't. From everything we've seen, (Early Builds) there were some choppiness in certain Camera Shots. VC has been very vocal that the game will lock @ 60 FPS when it hits stores.

VC has tweaked a lot of the Mechanics of the game.. Pitching, Hitting & Base running. Fielding hasn't changed much. Game spot has a preview build & the person playing says the players feel weighted & momentum feels real. Meaning stopping on a dime might be gone.

The Pitching Mechanic has been tweaked to a 2 step process, with the option to revert back to the 3 step process that was in 2k8. So far previews seem to like the 2 step process. I just wonder if you can get some really realistic pitch counts this year. They've also mentioned something about umpires having various Strike Zones which might be a good thing. They've also cleaned up the screen a little..

The Hitting Mechanic also has been tweaked. They have 3 Hitting Options this year. Same a last year. The difference is they've added Zone Hitting. This option offers a Bat Cursor on-screen which you move with the L Analog Stick in a Hitting Zone & use the R Analog for Hitting.

The regular Swing Stick is still timing based, but you now don't have to time your back swing & you also can influence your hits with the L Analog Stick.

New Commentary, the Graphics look pretty good & as always Signature Styles with the addition of 300 more. They've also added a NEW HD/Camera Style Presentation with Real-Time Atmosphere for a more immersive TV Style experience.

It really seem like VC the New Developer of the series has done some serious changing to the game, but the reality is how will those changes translate to actual Game Play. That's the big question.

I would say give it rent if that's an option for you. If not wait for some real impressions from OS once the game hits the stores

I would say yes why not. I mean we havent even seen any gameplay for the game yet. I will get the Show for sure but ill definitely give 2k9 a look.

Re: should i give 2k9 a look?

I'm choosing between 2k9 on the 360 and The Show on PS2. If the gameplay on 2k9 can come close to The Show (I rented the Show 08 and thought it was great), then I'll go with 2k9 for the next gen graphics and online roster updates (no internet hookup on my PS2).
If I had a PS3, I would buy The Show no matter what.
