ArmA 2 (PC, 360, PS3)

Video above.

It was mentioned in the Operation Flashpoint 2 Thread and thought it deserved its own.

Quote:
ArmA 2 features a player-driven, branching campaign. Your actions have consequences! Win the hearts and minds of the warring factions inside Chernarus, or play them off against one another! Your choices will shape the future country. Ultimately, you decide which faction (if any) survives to rule. Will you establish a lasting peace, or kick off a final war?
Quote:
Although ArmA 2 is set in the fictional ex-soviet state of 'Chernarus' the gameworld is actually a 225 square kilometer chunk of the real world! ArmA 2's highly detailed landscape is a meticulous facsimile of real terrain, modelled using extensive geographical data. This recreated region is brought to life with spectacular environmental effects and populated with dynamic civilian settlements and wildlife. Wild animals roam the atmospheric forests while the people of Chernarus try to live out their lives among the war-torn streets.
Quote:
In ArmA 2 a staggeringly vast array of military hardware is at your disposal. 73 modern weapons, 167 vehicle variants in the air, on land and at sea. The unique AI think and act independently, changing tactics on the fly. No scripts. No pre defined pathways. ArmA 2's AI share information, communicating with each other to hunt players down. They'll use cover and artillery, adapting to your actions and the changing environment.
Quote:
Building on 10 years of constant engine development, ArmA 2 boasts the most realistic combat environment in the world. It models real world ballistics & round deflection, materials penetration, features a realtime day/night cycle and dynamic wind, weather and environmental effects. The simulation of a combat environment is so effective, the engine forms the basis for training simulators used by real armies the world over.

absolutely it does. I'm very curious about how they will handle multiplayer VS. I can't wait to snipe in this one since it will be so much more realistic and at much larger distances.

I think this game and OF2 are going to have relatively smaller PvP modes, but that they will compenstate by having a large number of bots on both 'teams'. So if one guy wants to command a tank, he will also be able to command a 'unit' and in that way 1 human could have the potential to cover an entire flank of a given position (small town). I wonder if say it's 4 humans vs 4 humans if each person has command over a certain number of bots (say 8) or how that will work.
I'm curious about how they will handle respawning (if they have it at all)

I think maybe they will have like a Battlefield type spawning system....or maybe none at all, who knows?

Nice, just seeing the civilians doing regular stuff is awsome, also nice animal sim.

Well if it is realistic, A sniper will still get killed. Hopefully it will have a robust Commander mode to call in Artillery.
