W's regret signing Maggs?

Maggette not paying off for Warriors

Corey Maggette has proved to be a prolific scorer throughout his 10-year career. What he hasn't proved to be, however, is much else. Golden State's third-leading scorer this season (19.7 points), Maggette has become the Bay Area's black hole. Check out his stats for the last five games:

Corey Maggette's Statistics
Date Opponent Minutes Points Assists Turnovers
11/25 Washington 30 17 3 2
11/26 Boston 37 32 1 4
11/28 Cleveland 32 11 0 2
11/30 New York 42 32 2 5
12/1 Miami 47 29 0 1

Five games, five Golden State losses and a more than 2:1 turnover-to-assist ratio. Maggette's selfish play hasn't gone unnoticed by other players. According to sources, after the final buzzer against Boston, Celtics forward Kevin Garnett turned to Maggette and shouted, "Way to get your numbers."

"He just puts his head down and goes to the basket," an Eastern Conference scout said. "He doesn't even look to pass."

Word from team sources is that the Warriors are already regretting signing Maggette to a five-year, $50 million deal last offseason. When Monta Ellis returns to the lineup early next year, Golden State will have to figure out how to spread the wealth among three players (Ellis, Jamal Crawford and Maggette) who aren't very good at spreading it.

Re: W's regret signing Maggs?

How stupid is the Warriors management to not know what they're getting with Maggette? I've seen a couple Warriors games and so far from the looks of things he's been as advertised great scorer, can get to the line at will almost, decent rebounder thats all and most certainly not a playmaker.

If the Warriors want to get rid of him that badly, as a Heat fan i'd gladly take him for Marion. The Heat need scoring in the half court, which Maggette can provide and Marion works best in a wide open system. Win-Win for everyone, plus I get to see one of my favorite players everynight.

Agreed man, everybody knows Maggs is a stat padder. He doesn't even deny it himself.

I really think they should've never traded Jason Richardson

Well if you think about it, not many Power Forwards earn more than 2 assists a game.

It might just be me, but it seems KG is talking a lot more smack these days.

I mean the guy never looks to pass, I don't really know why the Warriors would complain about that, about 3/4 of their team doesn't look to pass when I see them play.

I also think they should have never traded J-Rich away.

Well I could've told them what they were getting., then we they traded for Crawford..I'm like what is Chris doing?..these guys are not going to fit well with Jackson and Ellis.

Re: W's regret signing Maggs?

yawn yawn yawn.

I dont like maggette at all but he gets to the free throw line at a consistent clip.
nobody else on our team including monta can do that.

Maggete can't pass. oh well. thats nto his role. his rle is to be a bowling ball.

He should just be a sixth man, which is exactly what hes about to be when monta comes back

Jamal/Scooter/Jack/Brandan/Biedrins

Watson/Morrow/Maggette/Randolph/Turiaf

With luck we keep this tank rolling along and we draft James Harden

Re: W's regret signing Maggs?

The Warriors are becoming the Knicks, lmao. Bunch of overpaid chuckers with no real superstar. Sorry J, but it's going to be sooo long before you guys are top 3 in the West. They have to hit the undo button on some of their deals.

Thanks for Al Harrington though. We love him
