Wishlists - Overall -

The feedback we have been getting on OS has been amazing. Thank you everyone who continues to post thier impressions, feedback, suggestions and everything in between. With everyone playing the game so much and with our production already beginning for next year, I wanted to narrow the focus in different game areas for what you guys want to see in NCAA '10. There have been some excellent threads with lots of ideas and they have been noted, but I wanted to get some individual threads going for each area to help us see what the priorities are from the community. Thanks again for all the feedback.

note:
Bigdmo9999 has already started a thread on uniform corrections http://www.operationsports.com/forum...on-thread.html I will be looking to this thread for that info.

DirtyJerz32 has done the same for bugs/glitches http://www.operationsports.com/forum...es-thread.html I will be looking to this thread for that info.

Re: Wishlists - Overall -

- animations! We need more of them. Also the transitions of some of the animations need to be alittle better.

-better, more varied ball/rim physics. No more swish or miss. We need more variety of how the ball reacts with the rim.

- MORE ESPN GRAPHICAL STAT OVERLAYS DURING THE GAMES!
...how about even just the score box? Just make it the same style it is on ESPN or ESPN 2. This is such a little thing that would do wonders to the presentation to this game!

-This is a good game, it really is....please don't mess it up and put that mess you had in there a couple of years ago where you would pump up the crowd and/or taunt your opponent. Keep that type of stuff out of there and just focus on basketball.

Re: Wishlists - Overall -

Here's what I have so far....

GAMEPLAY
  • Increase offensive rebounding
  • Improve analog passing (should be able to point in general direction with L-stick)
  • Names under CPU player with ball at all times
  • Improve ball physics
  • Fix the "high arch is always a make" on jumpshots
  • Long rebounds
  • Lose ball fouls, deadball fouls, over the back, illegal screens, flagrant fouls, technical fouls (maybe something similar to what baseball games do, if there is a questionable call have a cutscene to the coach where you can press a button to increase the intensity of your argument. If you get T'd up or tossed it will either give your team a boost or hurt them).
  • On-the-fly subs that show fatigue, also the ability use situational subs from on-the-fly menu
  • TV/Media timeouts (adds to realistic fatigue)
  • Ability to chose when you want to press in coach settings (after a made basket, after a made FT, rarely, desperation) See 2K8
  • Find a way to incorporate traveling into the game and not just via user error. Maybe a footwork slider or have the offensive awr/ability slider determine this. If I'm dribbling with speed burst and try to come to a quick stop, have me drag my pivot foot sometimes. If I'm trying to do post moves constantly with some scrub big man, have me travel on occasion. You already do offensive fouls very well in the post, some traveling would be awesome to see in there. Incorporating this into layups and things like that would be very tough I imagine, but it'd be nice to see an attempt as no basketball game has ever gotten this right

ANIMATIONS

  • Improve/tighten up current animations
  • Expand signature shot database (should be able to import all sig-shots from Live '10)
  • More FT routines
  • Subs walking to the scorer's table to check in
  • Improve net animation on made shot (still looks a little funky, it is perfect in 2K)

FEATURES

  • Unlockable alternate jerseys and classic teams
  • Put All-Time teams back in the game, as well as other annual teams (1998 Kentucky, 2000 Michigan State, 1998 and 1995 North Carolina, etc)
  • Create-a-school
  • Ability to edit a school, including their court (see 2K8)
  • Practice mode
  • Create-a-play

DYNASTY

  • Less 5-star recruits (40 at the most)
  • Add generic/fake tournaments for preseason tourneys not in the game (see 2K8)
  • Let us pick any area for any game (neutral or otherwise)
  • Let us play any game in the dynasty, even if it's not our user-team
  • Export dynasty team feature

ROSTERS

  • Greatly improve roster editing and management for default rosters. Cut/delete players, move them to other teams, be able to edit class, redshirt players, mark them as transfers, etc. This makes dynasties much more enjoyable. For example, if I can redshirt a guy who is sitting out this season, he will be eligible after one year in my dynasty just like IRL.
  • Make the rosters sortable by any attribute.
  • Include a player overview when a guy is highlighted on a roster, saying name, height, weight year, hometown and a headshot.
  • Give each player tendency ratings. This allows us roster editors to make the game play more realistically on an individual basis.
  • Let us edit signature shots/jump shots. Again, see 2K8
  • Improve ratings and accuracy of rosters. This is better than MM08, but there is no way Blue Ribbon was used for every team in the game. Some low-majors are completely fictional. Some high-majors have incorrect years (which wouldn't be an issue if we can edit class next year).
  • Clean up the classic teams. Use OS to your advantage, we are coming out with classic roster projects that have tons of corrections from the default rosters. Several teams are completely fake in terms of number, height, weight, appearance and year. We are correcting ALL OF THIS FOR YOU! Well, except for year/class because we can't. Download our projects and please incorporate these corrections into NCAA '10! There is no excuse for classic teams to be a mess next year.

GRAPHICS

Add tons of player accessories
- Black socks
- Add color options for current wristbands. (black, white, team, team 2)
- Knee pads/braces (black, white, team, team 2)
- Jumper's Knee wraps (black, white, team, team 2)
- Full length arm sleeves (black, white, team, team 2)
- Elbow pads/braces (black, white, team, team 2)
- Tattoos on players in the default roster

  • Add the conference patch on the shorts or jersey (eg: Big East logo on UConn's shorts)
  • Complete home and away accessories, not just sneakers
  • Go back to the MM08 stye of selecting sneakers (thumbnail of each sneaker), it takes a while to go through each shoe and let it load just to preview it in NCAA09.
  • Have players wear warmups in the pregame cutscene.
  • Open up editing of the face for each player, not just preset faces/hair/etc
  • Allow us to put all/any style of T-shirts on classic teams

PRESENTATION

  • ESPN overlays during games
  • Please put in the ESPN College basketball music at the start of games and even the graphic/intro that we see on TV every night, it is very cool and many gamers would love it.
  • If you are ranked in the Top 25, show it on the score overlay throughout the game, not just the opening overlay
  • Pop-up of all subs entering the game at once, the one at a time thing in NCAA09 is poor.
  • Show cyber Dicky V and Nessler before the game and/or at halftime.
  • TV timeouts where it fades to black and announcers say "we'll be right back from Chapel Hill" or wherever.
  • Cheerleaders/guys mopping the floor during timeouts (see 2K8)
  • Increase name database and have commentators say players' names more often.
  • Show cutscenes of the fans/crowd
  • More cutscenes in general, show the coach after a bad turnover or forced shot.
  • Real-time stat updates on bottom line for every play. If a guy scores a bucket for his 18th point, flash "Jones: 18 pts" on the bottom line. Same with all stats, rebounds, blocks, assists. This really helps you stay in tune with what's going on, who you need to stop on the other team, who needs to stop shooting on your team, etc (See 2K8).

The biggest thing is simple: customization. Let us customize as much as possible, even if it's not realistic. It's our game, we pay $60 for it so if we want to play every single game for 20 years in a dynasty at Madison Square Garden then let us. If we want to start a UNC dynasty and play every Duke game and make them lose on purpose to try and get Coach K fired then let us. Customization is the key these days and what made CH2K8 so great off-the-court.

Re: Wishlists - Overall -

Gameplay: Anything relating to on the court game play, not including bugs or exploits.
- Players still step out of bounds with no call too frequently.
- Add in defensive animation where player slides over to protect baseline & better help D. IE: When facing a 2-3 zone, have offensive player go to corner. If/when they make a move on defender (crossover), drive the baseline and they almost always get a great shot rarely contested. Help D should roll over to stop, often putting foot on baseline to stop penetration. (Offensive player would then need to change dribble to opposite hand/direction with right stick to opposite direction. This change would not be unbeatable.)
- It seems like there is some slight suction in regards to offensive player and double teams. I will attempt to drive around or pull away from it, but it feels like I get drawn in and must wait until CPU decides I can move away from it. IMO, it needs slightly changed but is too strong at times.
This also happens when on the break, it feels like defenders will warp or close the last step or two too quickly and close down a break. At best, they should only be in position to contend shot, not stop drive in its tracks unless it’s a big man on the break.
- Playing on All-Conference it seems like the CPU shoots way too high of a percentage (~60%). May not be as simple as toning down shooting ratings, as that may drop their offensive game too much leading to less of a challenge. May require balance by improving CPU interior defense. That is where it seems most of my offense comes from, probably too high of a percentage.
- Too many charges from simply backing defender down. Tone down just slightly. It’s good charges are called to keep players from backing down to the hoop every time, but it seems like charges are called too often. EDIT – The more I play, the more I actually like the way it is. It requires PG to get ball to post player once they have posted up, preferably close to the hoop.
- Seems like CPU does not substitute in bench enough. Starters playing way too long, almost NBA-esque. May need to be pro-rated for half length. If gamer uses 5-10 minute halves, starters should be in most of the time. If 10-15 or longer halves, subs should definitely be in more. CPU subs come in and out too ‘perfectly.’ Many will have same minutes played. In a typical game, top reserves (6-7) get more time than the end of the bench (8-10, for example).
- Add in injuries for human-controlled teams. Lack of feature hurts realism aspect of game.
- Add in way to set for team to press after made baskets.
- Player Lock: Ability to play game as one certain position/player.
- At halftime, before start of second half, have game go to Pause Menu so subs & strategic changes can be made, stats viewed, etc. (Like in NBA Live, NCAA Football, Madden, etc.)
- Using on-the-fly subs and hitting R3 to close the menu will make player turn to post up. Not helpful if you are controlling a guard at the time.
- Continue to work on the players clipping through each other.

Online: Anything relating to online play, statistics, or modes.
- Add in Online Dynasties
- Add in Online Team Play
- Have games default to Ranked settings.

Dynasty: Anything pertaining to Dynasty Mode
- Exportable draft classes into NBA Live 2010.
- Ability to control several schools in Dynasty Mode (NCAA Football allows 12) and to play any game within the Dynasty. (User or CPU controlled.)
- Coaching Carousel within Dynasty Mode. Computer controlled coaches (and/or assistants) would be fired or leave for other jobs.
- Before start of each season in Dynasty Mode, add in the ability to create recruits. Editable name, ht/wt, position, ratings, home state, editable ratings, attributes, equipment, etc.
- Issue in Recruit list screen. Many gamers will sort by interest and then go into an individual recruit’s page to recruit them. Upon exiting the recruit’s page, the recruit list is no longer sorted. This makes it a burden to recruit in a streamlined fashion.
- Either change recruiting to the ‘hours per week’ like in NCAA Football, or have the points be allocated by week. Too many people run out of points too soon, particularly if they are using smaller schools.

Tempo Control: Anything relating to the ‘Set the Tempo’ feature
- Ability to edit individual Coach Preferences and styles (for all coaches/schools) at any time (front end, before games, in Dynasty, etc). Would allow for user updates if schools fire coach mid-year or if team utilizes different playing style than what default game has set for them.
- Have Tempo Meter change the team colored ‘pie’ to reflect change made in game.

Rival Challenge: Anything relating to the ‘Rival Challenge’ feature.
- Add in ability to search for users of a certain team.
- Add in ability to designate certain teams as rivals. Could carry over to games played as well (so menus/overlays also agree).

Controls: Suggestions for improving control layout and ease of use for controls.
- Add in a second control option based upon controls used in College Hoops 2K so those users can no longer complain about the controls instead of learning how to use them.

Presentation: Stat overlays, pre/post game screens, 'shows', menus, etc.
- Display name of CPU ballhandler under them.
- More stat overlays giving game update (PTS, FGM/FGA) for individual CPU player. Still difficult to track individual performances by opposition.
- Overlays indicating all calls by referee. Can be tough to figure out what is going on at times.
- Increased atmosphere – more chants, fight songs, sign variation (not higher frequency; more random signs that show up in existing spots), more mascots, etc.
- Continue to enhance commentary from Erin Andrews. Still moments where it is not clear what team she is referring to.
- Increase visual ‘details’. IE: See players coming off bench sit by scorer’s table. More emotion from bench players, coach, crowd reflecting on-court action.
- Change the Situation Overlay (score, time remaining, etc.) in the Pause menu. Still the same as MM08.
- Have more presentation with the coaches. Show career record, season record, accomplishments, in an overlay. Hype up opposing coach, especially if they are a big time coach.
- Show rankings on score overlay and situation overlay in pause menu.

Details: Includes uniform inaccuracies, stadiums, equipment, player celebrations, etc.
- Cloth Movement (Uniforms). Found in NBA Live 09, increases visual realism of players.
- Rivals: Nebraska & Creighton should be listed as rivals in Play Now/Dynasty. They are listed as rivals in the Rival Challenge feature, but not when they actually play each other. Not sure I’d consider Nebraska & Kansas rivals, but it’s better than not having any listed.
- Court/Arena Name: Creighton plays at Qwest Center Omaha. Description is right, but name is wrong. Arena is now pro-style and court is wrong. Pic: http://www.gocreighton.com//share/Vi...IMAGE_SIZE=400
Nebraska – Men’s three-point line should be white. Home team sits on left side, visitors on right. (Seems to be incorrect for a lot of schools.)
- Incorrect uniforms: San Jose State, ... See thread at OS
- Add in more gear: Black socks, longer arm sleeves, long hair, Under Wrist Accessory, add in Wrist Tape (Basically Team Wristband, but always White), ...
- More authentic arenas. Possible inclusions: Notre Dame.
- Editing: Ability to edit year and tattoos on existing players.
- Nessler refers to ‘Arkansas Pine Bluff’ as ‘Arkansas’
- City in recruit database is wrong. City should be Poplar Bluff, Missouri. It is not ‘Popular’.

Bugs and Glitches: Errors & problems within the game that detract from the experience.
- Stamina is not reflected on sub screen until user moves focus off of C and to another player.
- When you choose ‘1/4 Court Man’ defense, Nessler tells us that the team has selected a Man-to-Man Full Court Press. The team runs the intended defense, but the commentary is wrong. There may be more, but that one jumped out at me.
- I think one of the Gs & C are mixed up in the Selected Play Breakdown inside the Playbooks.
- Playbook: No movement in diagram of Deep Special play in Memphis’ playbook.
- Playbook: Some plays in library are not selectable to be entered into current playbook. Seems to happen with 2-3 defense most frequently.
- Accessories do not show up on players when they wear historical uniforms.

Misc: Items which do not fit in any of the categories above.
- Fix issues with NCAA Tournament. First/second round games not held at same locale, conference foes playing each other in first round.
- EA Locker: Ability to share settings files (sliders), tournament files, in addition to rosters. Get rid of the horrific filter!
- EASW: Allow more than five pics to be saved on the system HD. (See NCAA Football.)
- Longer name fields in editing players. Some names in database are longer than what can be manually entered.
- Post-Season NIT Creation & Conference Tournament creation. Why is there a section only for pre-season tournaments? Allow user to create post-season NIT and all conference tournaments. Basketball gamers love playing tournaments – the more we can play & recreate, the better.
- Ability to dictate when players will be eligible in the Edit Player section. Options: “Next season” or “semester.” This addresses the increasing number of transfers and NCAA regulations that lead to players being ineligible for half of the season.

New Features: What new features would you like to see added? Something from previous versions or the 'next big thing'?
- Online Dynasty (see NCAA Football 09). Must have for NCAA 2010, in my opinion. Added huge longevity to NCAA Football, would elevate NCAA Basketball to a must-have franchise.
- Campus Legend/Be a Pro Mode, with character exportable to NBA Live
- Practice Mode/Drills. Especially useful in Dynasty Mode for people to get accustomed to team. Would allow new NCAA Basketball gamers to get accustomed to game play/features. An NBA Academy-esque feature accessible at anytime (front end, Dynasty) would be ideal.
- Online Team Play
- Create-a-School; Create-a-Team. As in last-gen NCAA Football, this team could replace an existing school in a conference.
- Coach Mode. Ability to call plays, make subs, but to watch CPU execute them. Perhaps add in sideline camera angle.
- Take a different approach to team rankings. Two options: 1) Put in-game option where users can assign the Top 25 rankings. They can then keep them up to date if they wish. 2) Have option of game either using the default Top 25 rankings or having them get updated weekly from the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. Either option helps keep the Top 25 rankings up-to-date as they are outdated by the first week of the season otherwise.
- Ability to take saved videos & pics on the hard drive (along with M3s on hard drive) to make custom intro videos that play before games or before starting lineups.

Yes! This stuff right here!
