FIFA Revolution Update!

I've made some threads about custom tactics and edit player attributes. Now, I'm on a little project to combine various adjustments and edits in addition to what I have suggested so far, to make FIFA 09 the perfect football simulation game.

The objective of this little project would be:

1. To make the game play a lot more realistic
2. To make FIFA 09 a better tactical game
3. To make star players play like star players
4. To make top teams play like top teams

Running out of nice titles, I'd like to call it the 'FIFA Revolution Update'. LOL!

I guess I would be able to release the results by sometime next week or a bit later. As tracking of responses is getting difficult across threads, I've decided to publish this in my FIFA 09 BLOG in addition to the forum. Watch that space. Hope you like the result!

Those who want to have a go at me, can do so. Thanks to the others!

Thanks for all of your hard work on Fifa 09. I am about to do the player edits now for the EPL. Nice blog, I am really liking the game more and more with the changes.

Before anyone misunderstands this, it's all for the OFFLINE games where FIFA 09 can be best enjoyed.

Re: FIFA Revolution Update!

I appreciate all the hard work Blue. Your tactics adjustments opened my eyes to the game. One question though. Have you tried playing the game with all manual controls? I know what you're going to say, but seriously, it is a completely different game when played on all manual. That, combined with changing both the CPU's and your defensive tactics to deep, contain, and cover (your suggestion), alllows for a slower, more patient build-up game (even from those teams who are designed to play route-one).

It also gives you more time on the ball, because the CPU will back off until you get near the 18 yd. box before pouncing on you, which is realistic, because by being in "contain" mode, it won't want to leave space in the back. Also, by playing deep, it will start any attack further back than normal, giving you time to organise your defense (in other words, face up, play L2+R2+X, and make the CPU re-think its attack and pass the ball around patiently).

Just give it a go and see what you think. I'd hate for you to go through so much editing, when by simply playing manual and adjusting defense only, can really change the game into a more free-flowing dynamic experience. It's really difficult to get the hang of, but once you do, you won't want to play it any other way.

I will surely take your advice. I'll try out manual controls this weekend. I always thought I can try that out when I have lots of time (a 6-hour session or something). In short sessions my preference is to get a good enjoyable competitive game. But I will surely take your advice and report back here later.

The manual controls are so buttery smooth once you get the hang of them. I still have some errant kicks now and then, but so do world class players in real life (Owen this past weekend). It's also such a good feeling when you string together a couple of nice passes and then rip one past the keeper.

I'll have to try out this editing project. I imagine when coupled with manual controls it could bring some nice results.
