Coaching Profile in game Sliders do these work?

Do the Sliders for the team your playing with help you online or are they just for coach mode. Meaning when you play a ranked match and I put the slider for zone usage to 100 will i play better zone. Or if i put help defense at 100 will my guys come way faster. On offense I have the same question if I put attack the basket to 100 will I attack the basket better. Or if i put attempt 3 pointers up to 100 will they go in more.

Also is there a balance to this or can you jack all the sliders to 100. Like if I put take close shots, mid range shots and 3 point attempts and even attack the basket 100 what will happen.

does any know any thing about this . Does it effect online play. Can please some one describe what these sliders are used for thank you. Does this benefit the teams style of play. Or should you tweak the sliders of the teams Coaching profile to the way you want to play

Re: Coaching Profile in game Sliders do these work?

I don't play online, because the few times I tried it was a lagfest and people play too unrealistically (doing any means to win, like exploiting cheese factors, which is fine but I prefer playing realistically).

But I'm pretty sure you have to play with the official 2k rosters and coaching settings....when you log on to the online portion, it checks and updates for you automatically, so everyone is playing with the same equal settings

I'm not 100% sure, but that's how it works with every other sports games, like Madden and NHL.....you might be able to play with custom settings if you're hosting and playing unranked or something (and the other person plays with the same settings)...just a wild guess

Re: Coaching Profile in game Sliders do these work?

i posted this in the main forum a week or so ago and it got lost in the traffic.
so here u go..

i figured i would post a bit of breakdown on how the coaching styles affect your team. and maybe for those few people that are not hardcore like most of us around here.. a bit of an education on how u could set the coach profiles to suit your gameplan.

GAME TEMPO
do u like the more methodical approach to the offense, calling plays, taking good shots, so that u are defensively prepared if you miss. then lower your game tempo slider. this enables u to better control the pace and momentum of the game.
if u like a more freewheeling approach to offense, a faster pace, and are not too concerned with controlling the tempo , but want to outscore your opponent? then raise game tempo. your team will get up and down the court more frantically in an attempt to hit the defense before it can set. now a team with high game tempo can still be a good defensive unit, but in the sense of disruption than containment. you will want to play defense the way u play offense, attempt steals, get into passing lanes, trap, just generally harrass to try and force turnovers..
a high tempo will make your team fatigue faster though.

DEF PRESSURE:
how tight the team defense is. how much pressure the team marks the opponents...the higher, the closer and tighter...the advantage is. its harder to get open jump shots..the disadvantage, its can leave the interior defense open to cutters and slashers.
if u want to negate the inside scoring and cutting that we all whinge about here, have this slider low. if its high, the floor is opened up, as your team is up in the offenses mug. opening up passing lanes. so this slider is key to helping thwart that. but keep in mind..a low def pressure slider means u are "sagging" off the defense, leaving u more vulnerable to shooters.. and ive also noticed, your defense isnt as physical..and this can be a bad thing.

HELP D:
this is how effective the team is at "helping" out team mates who are beaten....the higher it is, the more re-active the defense is at helping, doubling and recovering its team defense... teams with good defensive players have more success than teams without.
this again must be high for users. as it makes your team play better help D..they will cover u more effectively if u overplay your man and are beaten. they will also rotate more affectively. heck put it at 100 if u want.. u will notice a team with low help D, doesnt attempt to cover its beaten teammate or clog the lane if the offense is attacking the basket as much, or as effectively.
the only negative with a high help D is, u are more vulnerable to drive and dishes and kickouts, as your teammates have left their man to clog the lane or "help".

FAST BREAKS: how much the team looks to break away for transition baskets..the higher, the more players will run out..this however leaves less players to box out and rebound, making it easier for the opposition to grab offensive boards.
this slider is different to game tempo. where as game tempo is the pace in which your team operates. fast breaks is how aggressive they are at getting out and running in broken plays or opponents missed shots. remember though, having a high fastbreak may get u some easy pts in transition, but your defensive rebounding will suffer. as there are less guys boxing out.

CRASH BOARDS: how aggressive the team is at attempting offensive rebounds. strong rebounding teams flourish with this slider, but this leaves your team open for easy transition baskets as your players are more intent on rebounding misses than getting back on D. big tall teams with good rebounders are better suited to having this slider high. u can really eat up the glass and dominate the offense with this slider high, with the right personel that is.. dont go out there with the warriors like this though...as other than biedrens they got no rebounders. and if u dont capitilize, u leave your team open for easy transition baskets...so for smaller quicker teams, keep it low so your team can get back and get their defense set.

RUN PLAYS: how often the team will get into its halfcourt sets. self explanatory.

take close shots.
take mid range shots.
take 3pt shots.
attack the basket.
these are self explanatory. and in NO way affect your teams success in either field.
a team with a high 3pt slider..does NOT mean they will be better at shooting them...it just means, when the cpu controls that team, they will look to shoot them.
and as you are controlling the team. u are the tendendies.

so there u go..
