Already in the Bargain Bin

NFL Head Coach '09 part of a 2 games for $30 deal at Walmart!

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=10150432

Only out separately since early Sept and already a bargain bin game. This must have bombed big time. I think that there will not be another one because of this.

Re: Already in the Bargain Bin

Remember, this game was included in the Madden collectors edition package. So its hard to judge how good it would have done on its own.

Regardless, there are lots of games out there that have moved from the top shelf to the bottom only to have a new release the next year or two. So you can't just use that as a deciding factor.

I actually never saw HC seperately at my local Walmart or Target.

Me neither, unfortunately. I bought the collector's edition specifically for HC though. I don't even remember what Madden 09 looks like at this point.

There are probably 3 or 4 games I've ever had more lasting interest in, and I've been an avid console/PC gamer since '86. That said, it is very much a niche game. You have to really love it to put up with all the bugs and faults (yes I'm patched). It reminds me of the days of unstable PC gaming when you couldn't tell if it was your video card or motherboard freezing your game, but you kept on pushing the reset button, hoping that maybe this time you'd reach a save point before it crashed. On top of this, there's no way an average gamer/NFL fan will pop this in and be okay with having to find a message board to learn how to play - way too much of a learning curve for the casual gamer.

Even I reached my limit 2 weeks ago when I had just created 10 plays to have it freeze when I pressed Exit. But it's like being in love with a car that keeps breaking down on you, or randomly honking at innocent folks. The crazy person will keep popping open the hood (and door panels, and steering column, etc) to get a few more enjoyable miles out of it.

If I'm ever filthy rich, before I go pumping money into charities and medical research, the crazies will have a release of Head Coach with an unlimited budget.

I'll drink to that!
I'll drink to just about anything, but definately that.
I'll put that on my list somewhere after 'kids born with mute buttons' and 'a 2nd puberty in your 30's', (not for me, for my wife ).

Re: Already in the Bargain Bin

Even though Madden CE didn't blow out sales, i do wish I would have bought my head Coach seperatley. I never understood why they packaged head coach the way they did with CE. I'm hoping/dreaming it was to drum up interest for future releases down the road although I don't see it as a yearly release.
