E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps

"You also probably weren't aware that if you went online, you'd be able to play eight-player coop with friends, or 32 player matches against them. And the best part is that even in an online match, you'll still have NPC squadmates to command and fight alongside of. It is possible that when the game launches in 2009 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 that you'll enter a 32 player match with 256 combatants (between real players and their NPC minions). "

that's awesome...why hasn't anyone else thought of that. No more cheap spawn kills, and there would be SOOOOOO much action - this will be crazy!

This game is the most realistic shooter ever made. I just wonder if it's too hardcore for console players.

not too much for me, and I'm completely console gamer. I like the idea that if I shoot someone first, I win

I love the idea of such a methodical game where you have to be careful, but at the same time having over 120 enemies around! Also, It sounds like it will be really hard to cheese/exploit which I would hope minimize 12 year old trash talkers

Don't Worry Allb, they will be yelling and screaming bloody murder at first but hopefully they go away quickly and we can get down to business with this.

Like you guys said... with in 2 months all the arcade shooter fans will be gone.

I've started playing ArmA with a buddy of mine which is the team (Bohemia Interactive) that made Flashpoint 1.

If it comes close to the trailers this will be a heck of a good looking game.

Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps

while i'm still looking forward to this, the newest info from germany (GDC) is looking like the pc version will get 32player matches and (for now) the gamespot article says 8! 4 on 4 ???

that's a bit of a let down if that's final. especially if you fight on the full 220 square km island. There would be bots too I assume, but still.

It does sound cool that if you get shot in the arm and don't see a medic, you go into shock.

edit. there is some interview video that shows the soldier view of running around. it looks to be pretty close or equal to cod4's visual greatness.

we'll see

Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps

just a bit of an update.

Arma2 and Operation Flashpoint2: dragon rising

are looking incredibly similar. BIS is making arma, and codemasters (new team within) is doing OF.

Both were originally slated (and may very well still) come out in the first quarter or shortly thereafter.

ArmA2 is now releasing weekly vids; here is a link to the website showing their first gameplay montage
http://www.arma2.com/

they have already released the first of the weekly vids mostly showing marine units and vehicles (that demonstrate the doppler effect)

Arma2 is looking very impressive imo.

Here is the teaser for OF2
http://www.codemasters.com/flashpoint2/#/video/

This looks to be entirely CG and they have not released as much video, but the game is actually expected to ship first possibly.

I'm excited for both, especially since they are extremely realistic. I'm starting to get them confused in some areas...for example I can't remember which one, but one of the games not only renders the exterior of its weapons, but also it's insides! And both have realistic ballistics. w/ random wind and weather.

anyway, I hope these games will have simultanious console releases so that I can finally try out these 'uber-realistic' war games. (I don't think my thinkpad can handle it)
