No contest for me: the dogs jumping out of the windows in the third room in the first Resident Evil. Most of that game is just creepy, but those damn dogs at the beginning were scary, it didn't help that it was my first PS game ever, I go from cartoony SNES games to that and 10 minutes into my first game I see those dogs!

Same here. That's been years ago and I still remember that like it was yesterday.

When I first got Tomb Raider II for PSX and I was in Laura's Home. I went inside her maze and got lost. Then I made a corner and BAM! That freaky-*** butler is there rattling his tray and made me jump away and shriek like a little girl! Ever since then, before doing anything else there, I would first lock him in the freezer where his old *** belongs.

Max Payne in the first level where you're walking around his old house with the blood everywhere and his wife screaming, then the doors start banging. And also in Max Payne, where he's back at his house following the trail of blood with that nursery music playing and hearing his wife screaming and his baby saying stuff.

Playing the original Doom on my PC when I was in 8th grade or so. Late at night, all the lights off, and hearing the growling as you wander around the board...then next thing you know it's right in front of you.

Eternal Darkness for Gamecube was a pretty freaky game.

I watched my friend play through the entire thing in one sitting.
