I had a player still in his early prime retire without a career ending injury

I'm not sure why my OLB that only played three seasons retire during the offseason. I don't understand the decision because he was still young. Could it be because of the string of injuries he sustained in his career?

My OLB was injured for at least half the season for all the three years that he played. I think his injury rating was in the low 40's. During the last season of my franchise, he had an acl injury that sidelined him for 20 weeks, but it wasn't a career ender. It's a shame because he was such a promising OLB.

Is the game really that deep enough to determine player retirement based on the injury rating? I tried to talk him out of retirement, but he was demanding too much money. Besides, his injury rating was too much of a risk.

Yes that happens, so hopefully you saved right after the pro bowl. I do because I have had that happen to a 93 rated player. I guess its kinda cheap, but I was going after records with him and didnt want to lose him so I reverted back and he didnt retire.

I think that's great, b/c it allows open creativity for those "alternative" reasons to leaving pro sports. I mean, there are lots of great athletes who just don't pan out, get into trouble, or leave for personal reasons (plenty of busts have come through the league). its the little things like that that make me love this game. I mean, I've had some guys come back from injuries early or even play hurt.

its all about the little things. this game rocks

I am SOOOO sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I love doing research and this is what I found...(and where I stopped).

I am having this issue in my franchise, except several CPU teams are having guys who are quite young 4-8 years exp retire - with no career ending injuries?

Is this a bug...anyway around it?

Again, sorry for bringing up a 3-year old thread. But at least I won't have DFB coming in and slapping a can of "check the faqs" whoop-a$$ on me
