I personally think it would be a step backwards for them to move to another game engine. You may get better graphics. But at what cost to game play?

At the end of the day, game play is number one priority.

Gameplay is what makes this game so great. I would have the same concerns.

The Konami Japanese baseball game uses for graphics the Unreal Engine mentioned in the article. However, they are not held back by the Nintendo Switch.

For every good Unreal Engine game, there are like 5 games that turn out absolutely horrible. For them to move over, it would take awhile to do and they’d have to either fully train or hire all new devs that specifically focus on UE5 and shift everything over. The time and cost to do that isn’t really worth it IMO. It took EA something like 3 years to move over from Ignite to Frostbite for NHL and that was all in-house tech.

Re: Article on SDS Game Engine

My suggestion is SDS use whatever engine NBA2k is using because that game gets better every year.

Imagine if YOU not the SDS could change players DNA mid season, could start the season on any date you choose, could force wins/losses, could create and add gear for players, create/add cyberfaces, could mass change attributes or tendencies, could change contracts or service time, could change/edit stadiums and adds, etc. That's what you can do in NBA2k

And I suggest making it available on PC.

You dance with the one that brung ya. I have no issue with Sony sticking with a custom built engine. Just keep customizing it. Despite popular opinion, the grass isn't really greener on the other side. I don't want Sony to be like the dog that drops his bone because he wants another bone he sees in a reflection.

That's a legit concern. Better graphics with less realistic gameplay would be far worse than what we have now. If there is a problem with gameplay who fixes it - SDS or the third party graphics company?

It would have one potential upside in addition to graphics. It might free up developers to work on other aspects of the game if the third party was handling all the graphics issues.
