Hot routes in dynasty?

How do you feel about using hot routes against the cpu? Do you find it cheesy? Any house rules to keep it fair?

I wonder the same at times. Kind of feels like cheating to me but sometimes I need to do it. Do we know if the CPU does hot routes vs the user?

Re: Hot routes in dynasty?

I feel it would make the game too easy, so I’ve never done hot routes on offense (in ‘25 or any of the previous NCAA games). I always run every play as it’s drawn up.

The only exceptions to this is I’ll rarely turn a hook zone into a qb spy or a LB blitz into a spy.

My understanding is that the computer doesn’t. I’m not positive though

Re: Hot routes in dynasty?

I think the ability to hot route in general, as it is implemented in the game, is just sort of a bit of cheese. Being able to hot route 1 "hot" receiver in response to what you think the defense is doing is okay and realistic. But the way some of these guys online or on YouTube basically create a brand new play out of whole cloth at the LOS by changing every WR's route using hot routes is just silly to me, and should not exist in a legitimate football video game in my opinion. Although I know this question is about dynasty specifically, I guess I apparently just had to get that off my chest.

I have long thought that the hot routes in the EA football games are, to me, like the ability to add spin to a golf ball after it is struck and in the air (which, if you're not familiar with this "feature", is actually in EA golf games and has been since PS2 era Tiger Woods games). It's just an unrealistic bit of arcade-ia that shouldn't really exist in a game.

But, TL;DR - I will at most hot route 1 'hot' WR if it looks like a blitz is coming that I didn't anticipate.

Per the pre-release Campus Huddle, CPU teams can use hot routes in CFB 25.

Specifically the example called out in the notes is CPU teams adding QB spys on the field if you keep scrambling.

Re: Hot routes in dynasty?

I have been steering away from using hot routes in CFB 25 for three reasons:

1 - hot routes can fail on the road. In combination with an accelerated play clock, repeatedly attempting to get a hot route to succeed by spamming its input repeatedly can trigger a false start.

2 - the Turbo tempo disables hot routes entirely. I admit I haven't used Turbo tempo very much, but that restriction is a consideration.

3 - hot routes aren't tied to the footwork of the quarterback. I've greatly increased my ability to complete curl routes in CFB 25 by really focusing on throwing at the top of my quarterback's pass drop. Relying on the QB footwork absolutely does not work for one-size-fits-all hot routes.

Re: Hot routes in dynasty?

I don't use them. Originally was because the CPU doesn't. I also don't like the way they are implemented into the game. And, I feel the CPU play in general is not complex enough to warrant using a tool like hot routes. Even with coverage shells too often does the CPU tip their hands or play defense in such a static manner that I feel hot routing would significantly tilt the scales in my favor.
