Can someone explain to me how or why ratings are vastly different in a Dynasty? Kaleb Johnson is 93 OVR with the new update, but I start a dynasty and he's a 78.

Wild that Abdul Carter is so high (he should be), but Matayo Uiagalelei and Jordan Burch (who have more sacks, Burch also missed 4 games) get no love. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be high, but. Ducks defense is kinda being underrated by everyone right now.

Usually means his style of play is not what his current team covets more or less. I could be wrong, but I don't believe the ratings should be different but you can obviously easily check the accuracy of that by matching this info from EA to how the individual ratings look within dynasty.

As Chase was alluding to, I think what you see with the 93 overall is his basic overall rating while his 78 in Dynasty is based off how he rated at that position based off the team's scheme.

An easy example is having a 90 overall QB that's a pure scrambler with crazy athleticism but weak passing skills. In the main menu, he's a 90. In Dynasty mode for a team with a scheme requiring a Field General archetype QB he may drop to a 79 overall since his passing ratings are mediocre.

This is all moot if the actual values of each individual rating are changing in your case and not just the overall calculation.

I did check and it looks like the basic RB ratings are the same so the coaching piece makes sense. I also noticed there seem to be skills missing as well - is this because of coaching attributes as well?

I don't believe they should be missing badges as that shouldn't have anything to do with anything beyond the player himself. OVR makes sense that it would change based on scheme, but the badges a player has should be static.

My interpretation on the ratings changes from main menu to dynasty is just that they are flat out given the wrong archetype upon starting a dynasty. I don't think it has to do with the coach's scheme, it's just giving them the incorrect archetype. Like in Kaleb Johnson's case I want to say it was making him the receiving back archetype instead of power back (going off of memory, so I may be wrong). His ratings are more well suited for the power back archetype which is where he would have his original 93 ovr, but if he is assigned the receiving back archetype his ovr decreases to 78 because his individual ratings do not fit that archetype well. I doubt that the Iowa coach's scheme would prefer a receiving back archetype.

From what I can tell, the players affected by this are most often players that weren't a part of the original roster that shipped with the game. So for a lot of teams, it is some new freshman that were added in one of the roster updates. For my Oregon State online dynasty I had about 5 freshman with steep ratings decreases when we initially started, due to the archetype issue. However, I was able to fix each of their archetypes in the first offseason during position changes. I had two freshman running backs that were 5-10 pts lower in overall compared to the main menu roster because of archetype. In the position changes screen, I moved each to FB or some other position. Then immediately opened each player up again in the position changes screen and moved them back to RB. For both guys it fixed their overall since it was now assigning them the correct preferred archetype for their ratings.

So this doesn't help fix archetypes for CPU teams/players, or players who are seniors or leave for the draft after year 1. But for any underclassmen that are on your user controlled team in dynasty, they can be fixed in offseason position changes after year 1
