play clock off at play call screen

does anyone use the play clock off while picking a play feature? there are a lot of packages and options to sift through before choosing a play and i feel like there is not enough time to do it, especially when on defense when time is more limited. i like to play a game and keep it as realistic and immersive as possible. i know, in real time, plays and personnel are picked before the previous play has even ended. we dont have that luxury in the gaming world. im just not sure if it is a bit of cheating to not have to worry about any delay of game penalties. id like to use it to be able to have all the packages and options at my disposal. im just looking for some helpful feedback from a good ncaa25 community. thanks.

Re: play clock off at play call screen

I don’t use it as I think there’s more than enough time to choose once you know your playbook (it’s hurried before then) but I’m pretty sure this isn’t an option in dynasty (which is all I care about) and I can’t imagine it’s possible for online play either. I’d guess play now is the only time it’s available, but can be very helpful when learning the game.

I used to until I realized the game clock still ran. If it would pause the game clock I would 100% use it.

I just wish it gave us more time on D. Its insane how little time we get. It’s hard enough to get a play sometimes. It’s almost impossible since I like to make a lot of subs.

Would be great to have a setting here to customize the amount of time allotted.

Re: play clock off at play call screen

I agree that there should be an option for the playclock (and game clock) to be off during play selection. Sometimes I forget the sets/formations where a play is located, and I run out of time cycling through the menus to find a play. It's also annoying how out of timeouts and quarters, you don't actually get the full amount of time for some reason, so in those situations it's even more likely I end up taking a delay of game for the stupid reason that I couldn't find the play I wanted to run quickly enough.

Imo, knowing your playbook and getting to the right plays is part of the game. Yes, irl, they can "preload" the plays, so to speak, but in this game, you also don't have to relay plays to the QB, relay key information to the the QB, or have him relay the playcall to anyone else. So for offense, you still break the huddle, ready to go, way faster than a real team typically would. Hence why Accelerated Clock exists.

Now, for defense, you get a LOT less time that than you would for offense. It's too extreme, imo. And I also believe that the play clock should pause when you're making Substitutions the same way it pauses when you go into coaching adjustments (and you should be able to swap packages in the substitution page too; they're just preset subs, no reason to not be able to use them).

The reason of course is because that’s how it’s done in real life. Of course in real life you have the timeout to pick a play, but when you take the field after a timeout you have a 25s clock, not a 40s one.
