Re: Introducing Adam Moss: The Architect of Aggie Football
Utah State Aggies Roster and Depth Chart
Quarterback
The quarterback position will be a key factor in the success of Utah State’s high-tempo Veer and Shoot offense. Senior Spencer Petras brings valuable experience and leadership to the table, having started multiple games at the Power 5 level. His ability to command the offense, make quick reads, and stretch defenses with his arm will be crucial in Moss’s system.
Bryson Barnes, a junior with strong mobility and an understanding of fast-paced offenses, will be a potential playmaker if he earns the starting role. His dual-threat ability could add another dynamic layer to the offense, making him a key piece of the Aggies' future success.
Jacob Conover, another junior, has the arm strength and poise to operate in Moss’s high-pressure system. Conover’s experience and accuracy will be tested as he looks to make an impact in this exciting new offense.
Also in the mix is incoming freshman CJ Tiller, who will redshirt this season to learn Moss’s system and develop. Tiller has the potential to be a dynamic playmaker in the future, with his strong arm and mobility making him an intriguing prospect for the Aggies down the road.
Running Back
The Aggies' running back group will be a pivotal component of Coach Moss's high-powered Veer and Shoot offense, where multiple backs will have the chance to shine in a fast-paced, dynamic system.
Rahsul Faison, a senior, brings experience and leadership to the backfield. His vision, patience, and ability to break tackles will be key to executing the option and running lanes created by the offensive line. Faison’s experience will be vital as the Aggies look to establish a strong ground game.
Robert Briggs, a junior, is a versatile back with excellent speed and the ability to make defenders miss in open space. Briggs will likely be featured in different sets, both as a rusher and a pass-catcher, contributing to the multifaceted nature of the Aggies' offense.
Freshmen Herschel Turner and Corbin Cottle add a youthful burst of energy to the mix. Both are highly touted recruits who possess speed and vision, capable of making an immediate impact as change-of-pace backs or in key short-yardage situations.
Derrick Jameson, a sophomore, could also see significant playing time with his power-running style, capable of grinding out tough yards between the tackles. Expect Jameson to play a vital role in short-yardage and goal-line situations, complementing the speed and finesse of the other backs.
With such a deep and talented backfield, Coach Moss will have a variety of weapons to keep defenses off balance, whether it's power, speed, or versatility.
Wide Receiver
The wide receiver corps will be one of the most exciting aspects of Utah State's high-flying Veer and Shoot offense. This group boasts a mix of experience, athleticism, and playmaking ability, all of which will be critical in stretching defenses and creating explosive plays.
Jalen Royals, a senior, is a dynamic playmaker who can stretch the field and make big plays in both the deep passing game and after the catch. Royals’s speed and ability to beat defenders off the line will make him a primary target in Moss's fast-paced offense.
Kyrese White, also a senior, brings a combination of size, strength, and reliability. White’s ability to win contested catches and dominate in the red zone will make him a go-to weapon, especially on intermediate and short routes where his physicality will shine.
Otto Tia, a junior, offers a solid blend of route-running precision and hands. Tia’s ability to find soft spots in coverage and create separation will make him an important piece of the passing attack.
Jack Hestera, another junior, has been a consistent presence and is known for his ability to move the chains. His reliability and consistency will be key as Moss looks for players who can contribute across the field, both in short-to-medium routes and blocking on the edge.
Colby Bowman, a senior, brings leadership and depth to the group. Bowman is a versatile receiver who can play multiple roles within the offense, from slot to outside, and his ability to create mismatches with defenders will be crucial.
Sophomore Grant Page could be a breakout candidate, with his speed and agility making him a potential deep threat in the passing game.
Juniors Kahanu Davis and Robert Freeman add depth and explosiveness to the group. Both are athletic and capable of making plays both inside and outside, contributing to the multi-dimensional attack Moss is building.
Freshman Jackson Olson will have a chance to develop and contribute in the future, with his size and skill set giving him the potential to be a reliable target in years to come.
With such a talented and diverse group of receivers, Utah State will have the weapons to attack defenses from all angles, making this unit one of the most exciting to watch in the Mountain West.
Tight End
As the most experienced tight end on the roster, Broc Lane is the undisputed leader of the group. Known for his reliable hands and ability to make clutch plays in the passing game, Lane is also a capable blocker, making him a key piece in both the Aggies’ aerial and ground attacks. His football IQ and on-field leadership help set the tone for the entire unit. Expect Lane to be a favorite target in critical situations, particularly in the red zone.
A promising young talent, Josh Sterzer has quickly emerged as a dependable option at tight end. With excellent size and athleticism, Sterzer has the tools to stretch the field and create mismatches against linebackers and safeties. While he’s still refining his game, his potential to make big plays is undeniable. Look for Sterzer to see increased snaps in multi-tight-end sets and passing situations.
Chase Tuatagaloa brings a physical edge to the tight end group. A strong blocker with the ability to contribute as a receiver, Tuatagaloa is often utilized in run-heavy packages and goal-line situations. His versatility allows the Aggies to keep defenses guessing, and his work ethic has earned him praise from the coaching staff.
Another senior leader, Jacob Garcia, provides depth and experience to the tight end room. While not always a primary target in the passing game, Garcia is a consistent and dependable player who excels in blocking assignments. His team-first mentality and veteran presence make him a valuable asset both on and off the field.
This group of tight ends offers a combination of leadership, versatility, and playmaking ability. Broc Lane is the clear standout, but the depth provided by Sterzer, Tuatagaloa, and Garcia ensures that Utah State has a strong and balanced unit capable of contributing in multiple ways throughout the season.
Offensive Line
The success of Utah State’s fast-paced Veer and Shoot offense will largely depend on the play of its offensive line. This group must be able to create running lanes in the option game, provide protection for deep shots, and maintain a high tempo throughout the game. The Aggies’ line has a mix of experience, versatility, and youthful potential, with a few key players to watch as they look to anchor the offense.
Cole Motes (SR), the senior left tackle, will be one of the most important pieces of the line. His experience and leadership will be vital in protecting the quarterback's blindside, especially as Utah State looks to run a high-speed attack. Motes has the physicality to dominate in both the run and pass games, and his ability to handle premier pass rushers will be critical to the offense’s success.
Wyatt Bowles (SR), the senior left guard, brings a wealth of experience and consistency to the line. His ability to open running lanes on the interior and provide strong protection for the quarterback will be crucial in both the ground and passing game. Bowles’s leadership will be key in helping to solidify the left side of the line.
Bryce Radford (SR), the senior center, is tasked with anchoring the offensive line and making sure the tempo is maintained in the no-huddle system. Radford’s ability to make quick, accurate snaps and identify defensive line stunts and blitzes will be crucial. His experience will allow him to set the tone for the offensive line’s communication and execution.
Aloali’I Maui (JR), the right guard, has the size and strength to control the line of scrimmage. He’ll be expected to open up running lanes for the running backs in Moss’s *Veer and Shoot* offense while also being a key protector for deep passes. His consistency and physicality will make him a central figure in the offensive line’s success.
Teague Andersen (SO), the right tackle, is a promising young player with the tools to make a big impact. His agility and ability to handle edge rushers will be key in keeping the quarterback upright. As a sophomore, Andersen will need to show consistency, but he has the potential to emerge as one of the best tackles in the Mountain West.
Behind these key starters, several young players will provide depth and competition. Adam Pond (SO), George Maile (SO), and Cole Keele (FR) offer options at both guard and tackle positions, each bringing a different skill set to the table. Dennis Samuel (JR) and Jarvis Griffiths (FR) provide depth at center, ensuring competition and a strong rotation.
With the combination of experienced seniors like Motes, Bowles, and Radford and promising underclassmen such as Andersen and Pond, Utah State’s offensive line will be the backbone of the fast-paced offense. If they can maintain consistency and protect the quarterback while opening up lanes for the running backs, this group will play a huge role in the Aggies’ success this season.
Defensive Line
The defensive line will be a crucial element of Utah State's *4-2-5* defense, tasked with generating pressure on the quarterback, stuffing the run, and controlling the line of scrimmage. With a mix of experienced upperclassmen and emerging talent, this group has the potential to disrupt offenses and force turnovers.
Enoka Migao (JR), the starting left end, is a key player to watch. With his size, strength, and pass-rushing ability, Migao will be asked to set the tone on the defensive line. He has the potential to be a force both against the run and as a pass rusher, making him a centerpiece of the Aggies’ defensive scheme.
Miguel Jackson (SR), the senior defensive tackle, brings leadership and consistency to the middle of the line. Jackson’s ability to clog running lanes and disrupt the pocket will be vital in the Aggies’ quest to control the line of scrimmage. His experience and size will be critical in keeping opposing offenses off balance and allowing the linebackers to make plays.
Seni Tuiaki (JR), a defensive tackle, has the size and power to anchor the interior. He’ll be crucial in stopping the run and pushing the pocket in passing situations. Tuiaki’s ability to collapse the line will give the Aggies the opportunity to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks and force them into tough situations.
Taz Williams (SR), another senior defensive tackle, will provide depth and experience. Williams’s versatility and ability to play multiple positions on the line make him an important player to watch. Whether he’s eating up blocks or breaking through the offensive line, Williams’s presence will be felt on every snap.
George Stewart (SO), the sophomore left end, has shown flashes of promise with his quickness and ability to pressure the quarterback. Stewart will need to continue developing, but his potential as an edge rusher makes him a player to keep an eye on, especially as the Aggies seek to generate pressure in a variety of ways.
Braydon Bailey (JR) and Carl Nesmith (JR) add depth to the defensive end position, offering a mix of pass-rush ability and run-stopping skills. Both will play critical roles in keeping the defense fresh and contributing in situational packages.
Freshmen Jamie Cramer and Tanner Jolley will provide added depth and competition at defensive end, with both players having the potential to contribute in the future. Their development will be important, as Coach Moss looks to build a strong rotation along the line.
With Collin Vaugh (SR) and Bo Maile (JR) offering veteran depth and versatility, the Aggies' defensive line will be deep, talented, and ready to make an impact in the 4-2-5 defense. The ability to rotate fresh bodies and keep up the pressure will be key to Utah State’s defensive success.
Finally, incoming freshman Siolaa Lolohea will redshirt this season, but he’s a name to remember for the future. With his raw talent and size, Lolohea has the potential to be a difference-maker for the Aggies down the line, providing even more depth to the defensive line in future seasons.
This defensive line group will be vital to Utah State’s success this season, and if they can establish dominance up front, it will go a long way in implementing Coach Moss’s aggressive, pressure-driven defense.
Linebacker
The linebacker corps will play a critical role in Utah State's 4-2-5 defense, with their ability to read plays, defend the run, and cover the pass being essential in stopping fast-paced offenses. This group combines veteran experience with promising young talent, making them a versatile and dynamic unit.
Jadon Pearson (SR), the starting outside linebacker, is one of the top players to watch. As a senior, Pearson brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the defense. His ability to rush the passer, set the edge in the run game, and drop into coverage will make him a key player in the Aggies' defensive schemes. Expect Pearson to be a disruptor on the outside, applying pressure and making plays all over the field.
Clyde Washington (SR), the senior middle linebacker, will be the heart of the defense. Washington's leadership, instincts, and sideline-to-sideline range will make him an essential part of the Aggies' defensive success. As the quarterback of the defense, Washington will be responsible for making defensive calls and adjustments, while also playing a key role in stopping the run and covering short routes. His experience will be invaluable in leading this group.
Jon Ross Maye (SR), another senior, will play outside linebacker and bring his physicality and playmaking ability to the table. Maye’s ability to read offenses and shed blockers will make him a vital part of the Aggies' pressure packages. He has the skill set to disrupt both the run and pass, and his leadership on the field will be key in organizing the defense.
Max Alford (SO), the sophomore outside linebacker, brings an explosive skill set and the potential to be a breakout player. Alford's speed and ability to cover ground quickly make him a valuable asset in both run support and coverage. His growth in the system could allow him to take on a larger role as a playmaker this season.
John Miller (JR), the junior middle linebacker, will be a crucial part of the rotation alongside Washington. Miller’s ability to fill gaps in the run game and his coverage skills will make him a versatile linebacker. Expect him to provide valuable depth in the middle and contribute in multiple defensive packages.
Bronson Olevao (SO) and Logan Pili (SO) will both provide valuable depth in the linebacker corps. Olevao’s physicality and Pili’s quickness will allow them to contribute both as depth players and special teams contributors. Both have the potential to step up in key situations, providing fresh legs and extra energy when needed.
Tanner Williams (FR), a freshman outside linebacker, will likely be redshirting this season, but his development in the program will be one to watch in the future. Williams has the potential to make an impact down the line with his raw athleticism and physicality.
This linebacker group is deep, versatile, and full of potential. With seniors like Pearson, Washington, and Maye providing leadership and playmaking, and promising sophomores like Alford, Olevao, and Pili looking to make a name for themselves, the Aggies’ linebacker unit will be a key force in executing Coach Moss’s aggressive, fast-paced defensive schemes. If they can consistently read offenses, cover ground quickly, and create pressure, they’ll be crucial to Utah State’s success this season.
Secondary
The secondary will be one of the most exciting and athletic units on the field for Utah State’s 4-2-5 defense. This group is full of depth, with a mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented younger players capable of making an impact in both coverage and run support.
Avante Dickerson (JR), the starting cornerback, is one of the key players in the secondary. Known for his speed and ball skills, Dickerson has the ability to lock down opposing wide receivers and create turnovers. His coverage ability will be crucial in helping the Aggies defend the deep ball and shut down passing attacks.
D.J. Graham (JR), the other starting cornerback, is another dynamic playmaker. Graham’s physicality and experience make him a valuable asset on the outside. His ability to disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage and close on passes quickly will make him a key figure in the Aggies’ pass defense.
Jaiden Francois (SR), a senior cornerback, brings experience and leadership to the unit. Francois is known for his intelligence and ability to read quarterbacks’ eyes, positioning himself well for interceptions. His veteran presence in the secondary will be critical in making adjustments and helping to organize the defensive backfield.
J.D. Drew (SO) and Dre Seldon (JR) will add depth to the cornerback rotation. Drew’s ability to cover both the short and deep routes will be valuable, while Seldon’s speed and ball skills will make him an asset in both man-to-man and zone coverage.
Ike Larsen (JR) will be a key player at free safety. Larsen’s range and ability to read the quarterback’s eyes will allow him to make key plays over the top, whether it’s intercepting passes or providing support in coverage. His playmaking ability will be a crucial part of Utah State’s deep coverage schemes.
Torren Union (SR), a senior, will provide leadership at the free safety position. Union has the ability to both cover deep and provide run support, making him a versatile piece of the secondary. His experience and ability to communicate with the rest of the defensive backfield will be vital for Utah State’s defense.
Freshman Kadiuon Sweat and Chase Davis will add youth and potential to the safety depth chart. Both are talented and capable of developing into key players for the Aggies in the near future, providing much-needed depth.
At strong safety, Simeon Harris (JR) will be one of the anchors of the secondary. Known for his hard-hitting ability and coverage skills, Harris can contribute both in run support and pass defense, making him a well-rounded threat in Utah State’s defensive schemes.
Jordan Vincent (SR) will provide leadership and stability at strong safety. His ability to cover tight ends and running backs, as well as provide physical support in the run game, will be crucial for the Aggies. His experience makes him a player that can be counted on in big moments.
Malik McConico (SO) and Terrell Taylor (JR) will be key depth players at strong safety, adding versatility and energy to the back end of the defense. McConico’s athleticism and Taylor’s ability to read the quarterback will make them valuable contributors in coverage and blitz packages.
Omari Okeke (SR), a senior strong safety, will be a physical presence in the secondary. Okeke’s ability to come up in run support and his leadership on the field will help stabilize the back end of the defense and ensure that the secondary plays with discipline.
With such depth and talent across the secondary, the Aggies will have the ability to rotate players and keep fresh legs on the field, making it difficult for opposing offenses to break through. The combination of experience in players like Francois, Vincent, and Okeke, paired with the potential of younger talents like Drew, Seldon, and Sweat, gives Utah State’s defense the ability to challenge any offense and create turnovers. This group will be crucial in defending the pass and providing support to the front seven throughout the season.
Kicking Game
The kicking game will be an essential part of Utah State's special teams, and with a mix of experience and emerging talent, this group will look to provide stability and consistency in key moments.
Elliott Nimrod (SR), the senior kicker, is the key player to watch in the Aggies' kicking game. Nimrod brings reliability and experience to the position, having been the team's primary placekicker in previous seasons. His ability to convert field goals, especially from long range, will be crucial in tight games. Nimrod will be counted on to provide accuracy on both extra points and field goals, ensuring that the Aggies can capitalize on scoring opportunities when they arise. His poise under pressure will be vital, particularly in close contests.
Stephen Kotsanlee (SR), the senior punter, will have a significant role in flipping the field and providing strong field position for the defense. Kotsanlee’s ability to consistently hit accurate, high punts will help the Aggies' defense by limiting return opportunities and forcing opponents to start drives deep in their own territory. His experience and leg strength will be key in both long-distance punts and directional kicking, giving Utah State an edge in special teams.
Ryan Marks (SO), a sophomore punter, will serve as depth behind Kotsanlee. If called upon, Marks has the potential to contribute as a reliable punter with a strong leg. As a sophomore, he may also play a role in the kickoff game, providing flexibility and depth in the special teams unit.
With Nimrod handling the field goals and extra points, and Kotsanlee leading the punting game, the Aggies’ special teams will have a solid foundation. Marks will provide key depth and could emerge as a valuable contributor in his second season. The success of the kicking game will be vital for Utah State’s ability to control field position and execute in critical moments, making this unit one to keep an eye on throughout the season.
