They should reverse the user inputs for bullets and lobs

This is probably pretty controversial but after throwing another pick because I cannot get the ball to the receiver fast enough, I’m gonna say it anyways.

Throwing a bullet pass requires you to hold the button down (takes like .5 seconds) whereas a lob pass requires you to barely tap the button (takes like .1 seconds). This makes sense intuitively (press button harder, throw ball harder), but it also makes no sense mechanically. The reason it makes no sense mechanically is because it takes the longest input time to register a bullet pass in Madden and when you're throwing a bullet pass you need to deliver the ball as fast as possible. They should reverse the passing system and have bullet passes be passes where you tap the button and the amount of air under the pass depend on how long you hold the button. Bullet passes suck in Madden because it takes too long to deliver the ball to where it needs to go and because of that it isn't even going to the correct spot on the field.

This method would also make lob passes more intuitive. Currently it’s really difficult to throw lob passes because you have to release the button to quick. How many times have you not put enough air under the ball because you held the button down too long? I think holding the button down to put air under a pass would feel intuitive. You have to hold the button down a little longer to get the ball over a linebacker. Also it could introduce a skill gap to where you can put too much air under the ball on deep passes causing you to lose distance and a higher likelihood of throwing a pick.

For context on a 3 yard out route, the tight end will get about five steps in from the time I user input the ball to him with a bullet until he catches it. I’d argue the ball should get there in 1-2 steps

It mimics throwing a football. A tap is a lob as you release the ball way sooner. While a bullet pass you hold onto the ball longer which is why a longer input is held. It's fine as is. If you're taking windup into consideration, I could maybe see your point but a 5 yard lob is way different than a 50 yard bomb in terms of windup.

Yeah, I like the lob being a quick tap. But I still wouldn't mind seeing it be able to be a user choice. The more options the better I always say.

What they should do is find a new way to implement pump fakes. Touch passes used to be double tap the button, now that's been changed to pump fake and to do a touch pass you have to press the button somewhere in between a lob and a bullet.

As it is pump fakes are not that useful with how slow the animation is.

The current structure makes more logical sense. This also makes pass protection more important - you'll have passes you can't bullet as hard as you want, as you let it go earlier to avoid the pass rush.
